Angel Locsin defends Piolo against Lolit Solis’s "expose"

Actress Angel Locsin said that she's happy with her new home network, ABS-CBN, despite the nasty attacks she suffered from detractors in the wake of her transfer. "Happy po ako and I still think na tama yong ginawa ko. May growth po talaga dito," she said to the press people who gathered last night, October 19, in a solo press conference thrown by the Kapamilya network for the controversial young actress.

Angel Locsin finds the entire Piolo Pascual-Sam Milby issue unbelievable.

"May respeto po ako kay Nanay Lolit, kaso lang ayoko naman maipit si Piolo kasi alam ko naman 'yong totoo," said Angel to the entertainment press last night, October 19, in a solo press conference prepared exclusively for her by ABS-CBN.

The young actress was referring, of course, to Lolit Solis's recent revelation that she accidentally caught heartthrobs Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby off-guard in the middle of their supposed afternoon "date" at the coffee shop in Sofitel hotel. According the talent manager-TV host-columnist, the two actors left the premise in panic when they heard a waiter call out her name.

Both actors, through their respective representatives, denounced Lolit's claim by saying that they were in separate locations that day. Sam was said to be in a salon having his haircut, and Piolo was defended by a Timex representative, who stated that the actor was in Makati doing a photo shoot with Angel at the time of the reported sighting.

Agreeing with the Timex statement, Angel added: "Kasama namin nagpi-pictorial sa Timex, so imposible naman na nandun siya kasi bayad kami don, e. And parang unfair din kay Piolo, so sinasabi ko lang kung anong alam ko."

Angel said that she and Piolo were together doing the shoot from 3 p.m. to around eight in the evening.

TARGET OF BLAME. Facing the press alone since her controversial departure from GMA-7, Angel was obviously tense and it took her some time before completely letting her guard down during the presscon.

One of the issues raised was actress Jennylyn Mercado's reported conflict with manager Becky Aguila. Most people know that Angel's decision to transfer to ABS-CBN inadvertently blemished the relationship between Becky and her other talents who are still affiliated with the Kapuso network. Both Angel and Jennylyn are being managed by Becky, although some reports have cropped up that Jennylyn is thinking of severing ties with her longtime handler.

Angel said she's keeping her hands off the said issue. But she feels that it is unfair for some people to blame her for whatever career problems hound Jennylyn in the wake of her much talked about transfer.

"Siya, kailangan niyang alagaan 'yong sarili niya," said Angel on Jennylyn, "Kailangan niya ding i-prove kung anong worth niya."

Angel confided: "Parating ako ang sinisisi. Kung ano mang nangyayari sa kanila ni Tita Becky hindi ko naman problema iyon. Parang na-ano lang ako na ako ang nasisisi sa lahat."

FRIENDSHIP MATTERS . Angel also couldn't escape being asked about her reaction regarding the rumor that her ex-boyfriend Oyo Boy Sotto is playing sweet music with Kristine Hermosa.

"Ayokong magsalita," gushed Angel, "Ang sa akin lang mahal ko si Oyo at suporta lang ako, alam niya naman yon, e. Kung saan siya masaya... basta masaya lang siya."

Oyo and Kristine being together doesn't bother Angel. "Mabait na tao nga si Kristine. Parang wala lang ako sa posisyon para magsalita. Pero masaya ako para sa kanila kung ano man, kung magkaibigan lang sila o ano," she remarked.

How about the status of her relationship with young lawyer Michael Templo? The guy was touted as Angel's most ardent suitor when she was about to leave the country to study in London.

"Medyo hindi kami nagkausap masyado," replied a pensive Angel, who was carrying a bouquet of roses.

Lack of time due to personal commitments, according to Angel, hindered the relationship from blossoming. Aside from being a lawyer, Michael also runs a business in New York.

Refusing to elaborate further, Angel shared her top priority at these crucial moments of her life and career. "Trabaho muna," she smiled, before uttering the words that, most likely, belie her still bruised spirit, "Mas kailangan ko ng kaibigan ngayon, e."
