Matinee idol Piolo Pascual, despite the controversies brought about by his and Sam Milby's case against Lolit Solis, found time to answer The Buzz's 10 most controversial questions in 10 minutes yesterday, November 25.
The multi-talented celebrity—and probably one of the most eligible bachelors today—looked ready for the question-and-answer session. Confidence seemed to ooze out of him and there was absolutely no hint of apprehension.
The relaxed and always smiling Piolo brought out a jovial mood with The Buzz co-hosts Boy Abunda and Cristy Fermin. After the exchange of pleasantries, they got down to business.
THE HUNKS. First question, is there any hope for a reunion concert with him and The Hunks—the all-male group composed of Diether Ocampo, Bernard Palanca, Carlos Agassi, and Jericho Rosales.
"Gusto po namin, kung papayagan," Piolo replied, "But may ibang ginagawa ang mga kasama ko, e. Abala na po sila sa ibang bagay, but amongst ourselves, gusto talaga namin sana. You know, in time."
SETTLING DOWN. "In the next ten months, makikita ba namin na mag-aasawa na ang Piolo Pascual?" Boy Abunda asked.
Before Piolo could answer, squeals from delighted fans echoed throughout the studio. As the final giggle died down, Piolo joked, "Tito Boy naman, ang bata-bata ko pa, e. Wala pa sa isip ko ‘yan."
Then, turning serious, the 30-year-old actor-singer revealed, "Gusto ko sana in five years, kung ibibigay na ni Lord yung perfect mate. Pinagpi-pray ko po, sana. "
LOBO & FIRST KISS. The trailer of Lobo, his upcoming teleserye with Angel Locsin, featured the two stars showing more skin than usual. Were they uneasy with one another since they were "hubad na"?
"Siguro po, kung meron man pong aalahanin, e, talaga yung kung puwede lang isarado yung mata mo. Kasi po, mahirap talaga ‘pag ang katrabaho mo at kaeksena mo ay katulad ni Angel na... Hindi ko alam kung paano na made-describe, e. Basta nakaka-tense siya kaeksena lalo na sa maseselang eksena," Piolo explained.
Next, Boy asked about Piolo's other co-star in Lobo: "Ikaw ang unang onscreen kiss ni Shaina Magdayao. Nailang ka ba? Ano'ng pakiramdam, ano ang kuwento sa likod ng halikan na ‘yon?"
"Actually, ang dahilan po for me, sabi ko sa kanya na alagaan na lang niya ako kasi hindi naman ako sanay, mahirap na," Piolo said, to the surprise of both the hosts and the crowd.
Sensing that Piolo might be up to something humorous, Cristy played along. "Ikaw ang nagpapaalaga kay Shaina," a bemused Cristy commented. "Ikaw ang may gatas pa sa labi."
A laughing Piolo jokingly continued, "Oo, so sabi ko na alalay lang at baka pagalitan ako ng nanay ko, e. Medyo nung una kinabahan ako at na-intimidate ako sa kanya. After take three, sabi ko naman na okay na."
PAPA PIOLO. After laughter from the audience quieted down, Boy asked the still laughing Piolo how he is as father to his son Iñigo.
"'Eto po, mahirap," he said. "Nasa Amerika siya at first time siyang napalayo sa akin nang ganun katagal since last March. Doon na po siya nag-aaral, so I get to visit him or see him ‘pag nasa States ako and it's hard."
One day Iñigo might ask, "Dad, gusto ko mag-artista." What would Piolo say? Would he allow it?
"Magtapos muna siya sa pag-aaral," Piolo seriously said. "Kung gusto niya ako ang matitira sa bahay, ako mag-aayos ng damit niya, siya magtatrabaho para sa akin. Pag-aaral muna dahil mahirap pagsabayin."
PRINCESS SAPPHIRE. Since the questions now revolved around the important people in Piolo's life, Cristy asked, "Kumusta na si Princess Sapphire sa buhay mo?"
"Hindi ko alam isasagot ko!" an amused Piolo said. But in all sincerity, he revealed, "Ganun pa rin. Siya pa rin ang pinaka-espesyal na babae sa buhay ko."
"Sandali muna," Boy exclaimed. "Nag-uusap kayo sa mga Princess Sapphire, e, hindi ko naman maintidihan kung sino ‘yon. Who are you talking about?"
Piolo apologetically said, "Hindi talaga puwede sabihin, e. Pasensiya na po."
"But she is the woman that makes you smile today," Boy said in turn. The crowd squealed again in enjoyment as random shouts of "Ako ‘yon!" came from different directions.
CARLENE'S CRUSH. And then Boy revealed to Piolo that controversial beauty queen Carlene Aguilar has a crush on him. What is Piolo's reaction?
"Wow!" he quipped. "Hindi pa kami nagkikita ulit. But we're friends. Pero ayoko muna mag-comment baka maintriga kami. Quiet muna ako."
PIOLO'S SONGS. Changing the subject, Boy now directed a question related to Piolo's songs, particularly "Kailangan Kita."
"Of course, that's my first big hit and because of that—" Piolo began. But before he could finish, Boy requested that Piolo sing two lines from the song. Piolo complied.
"Wala," Piolo replied.
What about "Anak," his second song, to whom does he dedicate it?
"Sa mga nagmamahal po sa akin," Piolo answered.
If there is one person that he would like to see again, who would it be?
"Alam naman po natin kung sino, e," Piolo said. He chose not to reveal who because it might generate wrong interpretations among showbiz writers.
RYAN AGONCILLO. How is he and Ryan Agoncillo now that they are in good terms? The two stars had a misunderstanding before, but have since patched things up.
"Mabuting-mabuti naman po," Piolo answered. "Siguro po we were both man enough to face the situation and talk about it. So naayos po namin bilang civilized persons and I respect Ryan dahil siya ang nag-initiate, so malaking pasasalamat ko sa kanya."
Boy, probably saving the best for last, asked Piolo: "Bakit ang guwapo mo?"
"Salamat po sa Nanay ko at kay Lord," was all the humble heartthrob had to say.
