Say Alonzo scraps Boracay New Year party, resolves to lessen "gimmicks"

Actress-TV host Say Alonzo plans to lessen her nights out this 2008. "Less gimmicks," she said to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) about her New Year's resolution.

Say Alonzo doesn't have a movie in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival but she was all over the place—from the early goings to the end point of the parade—last December 24 during the yearly Parade of Stars.

"Wala," she gushed enthusiastically when PEP [Philippine Entertainment Portal] quizzed the Pinoy Big Brother alumna if she had a movie for the MMFF. "I'm here as a host kaya ako nandito. Ako ‘yong nag-iinterview sa ibang mga artista!"

Say together with Asia Agcaoili, Smokey Manaloto, and Archie Alemania hosted the formal presentation of the stars at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

The energetic young actress-TV host, who is known for her partying, revealed to PEP that she dropped her original plan to go to Boracay with best friend Uma Khouny in favor of work.

"Dito lang kami," said Say about her New Year's celebration. "We were planning to go to Boracay but I have work on the 30th, so sayang naman if it's just like one day, two days."

Because of her workload, she won't be able to join Uma in Boracay, but Say quickly added that she's not complaining.

Her New Year routine is consistently divided between her family and friends. "I usually spend it with my family before midnight... pero after midnight, I spend it with my friends," she smiled.

We asked Say what prompted her initially to plan a Boracay revelry. "Kasi lahat ng taong kilala ko nandoon. E, may work ako sa [December] 29, 30, 'tapos sa [January] 2, so ‘yon nga, sayang naman kung konti, 'tapos si Uma pabalik na rin sa Boracay."

For hyperactive Say, who juggles work and parties, her resolution for 2008 is "to get more sleep!" She added, "I haven't had any sleep [for] the past couple of months."

When it comes to her second resolution, Say paused once more as if contemplating whether to say it or not. She said it anyway.
