Rica Peralejo admitted that juggling both school and showbiz took its heavy toll on her. Rica decided to lighten her showbiz commitments to give her schedule as well as herself enough breathing room.
Currently, Rica is seen only in ABS-CBN's morning talk show Umagang Kay Ganda.
"I really intend na ‘yan lang muna siguro talaga because I tried having soap and it was okay naman. Kaya lang, it wears me out to have a morning show and that [soap opera] and then school, so mas maganda kung may focus ka din siguro," said Rica to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) yesterday, January 23, during the launching of Marie France's new batch of endorsers at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City.
Rica, along with actress-politician Aiko Melendez and beauty queen Carlene Aguilar were asked by Marie France to try out their health-slimming services and eventually became its newest endorsers.
Taking a semi-lull from showbiz is necessary, according to Rica, for her to devote more time to her Creative Writing course at the Ateneo de Manila University where she is currently a freshman.
"Masaya, masaya talaga!" enthused Rica, talking about school and her passion for writing. "I mean it's hard but joy ko siya, e. It makes a whole lot of difference if what you're doing gives you joy talaga."
ZERO LOVELIFE. Rica is not just slowing down in her showbiz career, her lovelife remains on standstill since she broke up with actor Bernard Palanca a few years back.
Thinking intently, Rica said, "Kasi kung boyfriend-boyfriend, talagang my last was BJ [Bernard] and that was a long time ago. But then after that, meron naman ‘yong mga nanligaw sa ‘kin na I kinda dated, na parang we went through courtship. Pero wala na talaga akong naging boyfriend."
But of course, the thought of falling in love again and being with someone still elicits that giddy feeling in her.
"I'm just kilig on the possibility," sweetly shared Rica. "I'm not dating anyone in particular, but I will not lie na parang when I feel like somebody likes me na parang ganoon, I do feel parang ‘siguro like ako nito.' Pero I try not to think about it and then I treat them all as friends, kasi it's better that way."
STANDING WITNESS. Last January 17, Rica along with 13 others submitted their respective affidavits to the court in defense of Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby in their libel suit case against columnist-TV host Lolit Solis and Pilipino Star Ngayon entertainment editor Veronica Samio.
Rica confided feeling apprehensive at first mainly because of the weight of the controversial case.
Recalling her state of mind during the time, she mentioned: "Well at first I didn't really feel like appearing only because masyadong high profile... Masyadong maraming nakatutok na camera. Sabi ko nga, 'yong ganito, parang ‘di na ako masyadong sanay kasi I've been really really quiet for sometime now. So parang ‘yon lang 'yong concern ko."
