Indie actor Sid Lucero tries mainstream comedy in "Manay Po 2"

Sid Lucero, who usually does indie films, returns to mainstream cinema via Regal Entertainment's Manay Po 2. He will play the role originally played by Luis Alandy, who begged off to do the sequel of the hit movie.

Tuluy-tuloy ang shooting ng unang solo-produced movie for 2008 ng Regal Entertainment, ang sequel to the production's hit movie Manay Po (2006). Still directed by Joel Lamangan, most of the major cast returns to Manay Po 2, except for Luis Alandy.

In Manay Po, Luis played the role of architect Adriane, the closet-gay lover of engineer Oscar ( Polo Ravales), also a closet-gay. Luis turned down the offer to return to the sequel for undisclosed personal reasons. Ang sabi, it has something to do with his last project for Regal, ang Metro Manila Film Festival 2007 entry na Desperadas, where he again played a gay lover (of Wendell Ramos).

Replacing Luis in the same character is Sid Lucero, who accepted the part just last week and immediately started shooting for the movie.

Kuwento ng manager ni Sid, broadsheet entertainment writer Ricky Gallardo, Sid already read the full script at natuwa siya sa kanyang role. First time niya kasing mag-all-out comedy at gaganap na gay.

Si Sid ang isa sa mga bagong mukha na ipakikilala sa Manay Po 2, together with Rufa Mae Quinto as the babymaker, Alex Castro as John Prats's new crush, EJ Jallorina as Jiro Manio's best friend, Kris Bernal as Jiro's girlfriend, Marco Alcaraz as Rufa Mae's boyfriend, Dion Ignacio as Jiro's PE teacher, and Rubirubi as the sexy starlet na pagseselosan ni Cherry Pie Picache kay Christan Vasquez.

Set to open ang Manay Po 2 on March 22 , Black Saturday.
