Nadia Montenegro chooses to keep quiet to end rift with Gretchen Barretto

It seems that the issue between Gretchen Barretto and Nadia Montenegro will not end anytime soon. However, Nadia opted to keep silent about it, hoping that the issue will die eventually.

Last Saturday, February 23, in Entertainment Live, its staff got curious why actress Gretchen Barretto walked out from the studio while a video was being played as a backgrounder on Nadia Montenegro's remarks against her.

Gretchen reasoned out in The Buzz the following day, February 24, "I don't want to say anything nasty about her [Nadia]. Ayokong marinig. Iniwasan kong basahin ‘yan.

It could be remembered that Nadia's name came out after Claudine Barretto, younger sister of Gretchen, told the press that they already have an idea about the person who they thought was spreading negative rumors about her sister and her partner Tonyboy Cojuangco.

Reacting to this rumor, Nadia sent a text messages to showbiz columnist Ogie Diaz last February 20. In one of the text messages, Nadia described Gretchen this way, "Puro front lang nakikita n'yo kay Gretchen.

During the evening of February 20, the two actresses met up in Hotel Rembrandt with hopes to settle the issue. However, what happened inside the hotel turned out to be exactly the opposite of expectations.

Showbiz talk show host Cristy Fermin, who facilitatated the meeting, confirmed this by narrating, "Nagkaroon ng gulo ito [the meeting], hindi ito yung kasing kinis ng ating inaasahan na pagbabati dahil ayon sa ating impormante ay hindi naging maganda ang pag-uusap nila dahil sa tanong ni Gretchen na, ‘Why me? Nadia, why me?' Ang sagot daw agad ni Nadia ay, ‘Show me your evidence.'

"So, doon na nagsimula.

Tanya Montenegro, sister of Nadia, thought that the supposed reconciliation was obviously wrong timing. She told The Buzz, "I guess it was a bit early to have, to try to patch things up."

CHANGE OF MOOD. After the walkout incident of Gretchen in Entertainment Live, Nadia released a statement in The Buzz. She apologized for her comments about her friend Gretchen. The former actress explained that she said those statements out of great anger.

Nadia and Gretchen became friends when they did the 1984 movie titled 14 Going Steady. At that time, Gretchen was only 12 years old, while Nadia was 11.
