Valerie Concepcion being considered for "Betty La Fea" role

"Ako ha, naniniwala ako sa sarili ko nakumbaga, if it's meant to be for you, it's gonna be for you no matter whathappens," says Valerie Concepcion about the Betty La Fea role.

"Ang ganda talaga ng pasok ng taon sa akin!" exclaimedValerie Concepcion during the press launch of her first major endorsement, aslimming pill called Slenda, at the 9501 restaurant of ABS-CBN yesterday, February 28.

She added, "Sobrang thankful ako sa ABS-CBN na talaga namangyung trust na binibigay nila sa akin, sobra, talagang iba."

Aside from her newest endorsement, Valerie is also happy that ABS-CBN is considering her to play the lead role in the Filipino adaptation of theColombian soap opera Betty La Fea.

"Actually, kagabi [February 27], nabanggit sa akin na parang isa raw ako samga pinagpipilian. Pero hindi ko alam. Siyempre sana, sana matuloy, di ba? Kasi I'm excited na rin na makagawa ng soapdito sa ABS-CBN, so hopefully," said Valerie.

When asked if she is willing to become ugly in this project,the 20-year-old actress said, "Oo naman, pangit naman ako, e. Oo naman, maganda nga yun, e. Actually, isa yun sa mga gusto kong i-try, yung pangit 'tapos papagandahin ka, di ba?"

Valerie is clueless that Asia's Songbird RegineVelasquez has also expressed her interest to do Betty La Fea. So, when the entertainment press told herabout this, the young actress replied, "I'm honored and I'm flatteredtalaga. Kasi, actually, hearing aboutit last night sabi ko nga parang, ‘Wow!' At least, di ba, kahit hindi man ako mapili, at least alam ko na kasamaako sa pinagpipilian? Yun pa lang, bighonor na for me."

Other actresses being considered for the Betty La Fea role are Anne Curtis, Bea Alonzo, andAngel Locsin. Since Angel andValerie are both under the management of Becky Aguila, the pressasked Valerie if she would be hurt in case Angel gets the role of Beatriz PinzonSolano, the main character in Betty La Fea.

"Ay, hindi naman," answered Valerie. "Ako ha, naniniwala ako sa sarili ko nakumbaga, if it's meant to be for you, it's gonna be for you no matter whathappens."


OTHER PROJECTS. Anothergood news for Valerie is that her contract for the noontime show Wowowee wasrenewed.

"Sa awa ng Diyos, nag-end yungcontract ko nung February 16. So yun, ni-renew po nila ako for another sixmonths," said Valerie.

Then, the media teased her, "Mukhang malakas ka kay Pappi[Willie Revillame, main host of Wowowee]."

Valerie answered, smiling, "Malakas? Siguro, oo, I can saythat. Siguro ano rin, naa-appreciate dinniya na talagang ginagawa ko yung trabaho ko."

Valerie also assured the media that there is no chance she would be linked to the Wowowee host. She explained, "I can really say na, siyempre everyday nakikitako si Pappi, talaga namang sisterly love lang, walang malice. Kung isang araw mag-decide siya na gustoniya akong ligawan, parang ang reaksiyon ko, ‘Huh? Kuya!'"

LOVELIFE. Asof now, Valerie wants to focus on her career and on her roleas mother to her three-year-old daughter Heather Fiona. This means that Valerie has zero love life.

"Wala pa din. Whatelse is new?" said Valerie. "Afterthat [relationship with the father of Fiona], nagde-date ako pero hanggangganun lang."

Valerie explained why love life is not her priorityright now. "Kasi nagkamali naako before. Ngayon, I've learned from my mistakes and hindi ko talaga priorityang love life ngayon."

Valerie will also be busy promoting her movie withVhong Navarro titled Supahpapalicious, which will be shown on March22. She will also be a part of anall-girl gag show in ABS-CBN.
