For young actress Yasmien Kurdi, doing Tasya Fantasya is a nice outlet for her to loosen up after shedding a bucket of tears in her primetime drama series, Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita.
"Sa Babangon po kasi, serious drama kami talaga doon, while dito naman sa Tasya Fantasya, para lang kaming naglalaro and tawanan lang kami nang tawanan. So in a way, parang ito na rin po ‘yong pahinga ko sa iyakan," she told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last March 27 during the press conference of Tasya Fantasya held at the Mowelfund Garden in Quezon City.
Tasya Fantasya is a Carlo J. Caparas creation and was portrayed by Kris Aquino in the 1994 movie opposite basketball superstar Alvin Patrimonio. The movie failed to make an impression at the tills and even Kris herself was reportedly unhappy with the final product.
When Yasmien bagged the part she called Kris to inquire if she still had a copy of the film so that she could watch it and study the role further. Unfortunately, Kris doesn't have a copy of the film and just advised Yasmien to portray the role to the best of her abilities.
REUNITED WITH RAINIER. Tasya Fantasya also paves the way for Yasmien to be reunited with original love team partner and StarStruck batch mate Rainier Castillo. Yasmien is more identified nowadays with current screen partner JC de Vera.
Yasmien refuses to compare the two.
Just like most of their fans, many are wondering if there's still any chance for Yasmien and Rainier to elevate their relationship to a more serious one.
So, if Rainier treats her as one of the boys, how about JC?
"Babae po," she blushingly told PEP, "he treats me as a girl."
LEARNING FROM JEN'S MISTAKES. Yasmien confessed that she's not fond of the idea of having a boyfriend who is also in showbiz.
"Mahirap ‘yong may mga issue-issue. Madaming nakikialam kasi ‘pag pareho kayong taga-showbiz," she candidly offered.
But she's not totally closing her doors to the possibility of hooking up with a colleague in the future. But Yasmien would rather let destiny take its course than force things.
Yasmien confided that good friend Jennylyn Mercado's unexpected pregnancy is another factor holding her back from falling in love this early.
"Opo," she acknowledged.
But Yasmien once again expressed her support to Jennylyn during this time of need.
Yasmien also opted not to meddle or inquire about the state of Jennylyn's relationship with ex-boyfriend Patrick Garcia.
RESPECT FOR NON-VEGANS. Recently, rumors were flying saying that Yasmien allegedly lashed out at non-vegetarians by publicly mocking the practice of eating meat.
"To clear everything, wala po akong sinabing ganung bagay. And hindi ko po sasabihin ‘yon habang kumakain sila," she stressed in closing.
