Ex-senator Tito Sotto’s house victimized by burglars

Stolen from actor-politician Tito Sotto (in photo, with wife Helen Gamboa) was his wallet with P5, 000 cash, an expensive ring, and a cell phone worth P30,000.

Suspected members of the notorious Akyat-Bahay Gang reportedly barged inside the White Plains residence of comedian and former senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto yesterday, April 15. Sotto immediately reported the incident to the Quezon City Police District Station 8.

According to Sotto, he was about to sleep at around 3:30 a.m. when he heard a commotion downstairs. Pulling out from his bed, the longtime Eat Bulaga! host reportedly left his room to check the entire house. A puzzled Sotto then went to the maids' quarters where he found his two helpers, Consuelo Hernandez and Alicia Magsipos, sleeping soundly.

After checking the comfort room, the former senator decided to return to his room but was surprised when he noticed that one of the windows near the stairs was open. Sotto alarmingly retreated back to the master's bedroom where he discovered some of his personal belongings missing.

Stolen from Sotto was his wallet containing P5,000 cash, a ring worth P20,000, and a cellphone which he bought for P30,000.

In a report filed by Senior Insp. Gregorio Villanueva of the QCPD Scene of the Crime Operatives to the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, he pointed out that aside from the open window situated at the stairs, there was no other sign that indicate forced entry.
