After giving birth to her son Nathaniel Caesar, former child star Camille Prats is now getting busy with her newly-built pre-school, the Divine Angels Montessori.
Ever since she became pregnant, the young actress has been open about her plans to put up a school. In an interview with Showbiz Central yesterday, May 11, Camille said, "It started last year. Last year when I got pregnant, siguro naisip ko na I wanted to make use of my time since I'll be going to the States.
"So, I took a short course there of Montessori training for six months. 'Tapos before I left, mayroon na akong consultant dito na inasikaso na lahat ng papers para makapagpatakbo kami ng school at makapag-open kami this year.
"So when I got back ng March, ayun okay na. Konting set-up na lang, pati yung paggagawa ng tables, ng chairs, yung pagse-set-up talaga ng buong classroom, inasikaso ko na together with my other staff na kasama din dito."
Last week, May 5, Camille and her staff started their two-week trial classes. Camille said that the school targets kids from three to six years old.
With this newfound job and her new life as a mom and a wife, Showbiz Central asked her if she does not feel tired?
"Hindi naman," answered Camille with a smile. "Actually, it's very fun. Right now, we're having trial classes for two weeks. So, naka-one week na kami, we're having another set this week, by Monday until Friday."
FIRST-TIME TEACHER. Aside from being a first-time mother, Camille also talked about another first experience for her this year—being a teacher.
She excitedly narrated to Showbiz Central, "Siyempre noong first day namin, marami kasing pumapasok kasi nagtra-trial classes ako sa two years old and below. So, siyempre, hindi pa sila sanay na iniiwan ng mommy or ng daddy, super iyak nang iyak na halos iuntog na nila ang ulo nila sa pader.
"Parang noong una, na-frustrate ako kasi hindi ko ine-expect na it would be like that. Kumbaga, first experience ko rin ito na dealing with kids na talagang ganun. Iba, mahirap pala talaga.
"Summer class kasi yung parent hindi nila kayang i-commit yung anak nila kasi what if hindi ready yung bata. So, ang ginawa namin, nag-open kami ng trial classes para masubukan, it's for free, para masubukan ng mga bata na pumasok, ma-feel nila yung bagong environment, makasanayan na nila.
"Doon pa lang magde-decide yung parents nila kung ready na ba yung anak nila. After the trial classes, kung na-feel ng parents na kaya na ng mga anak nila, that's the time that they enroll."
LEAVING SHOWBIZ? With her tight schedule right now, does this mean that she will turn her back on showbiz?
"Babalik, siyempre babalik," assured Camille. "Actually, ako, miss na miss ko na rin. I really wanna go back, it's just for now, inaayos ko lang muna yung school kasi medyo okay naman na kami. May na, 'pag June, start na yung school year, medyo mas na-stabilize na yung school. Then, I think I can go back to work."
The 22-year-old mom said that she is not surprised with the sudden change in her life, especially when she found out that she was pregnant.
"Siguro kasi that's the only time na nagkaroon ako ng madaming oras para sa sarili ko. The time when I got pregnant, when I went to the States, I decided to take a course, a short course on Montessori training kasi gusto nga na pag-uwi ko ay makapagpatayo ako ng school."
During her pregnancy, Camille said, she took the opportunity to learn other things.
Kahit ako, overwhelmed kasi masyadong sunud-sunod yung pangyayari. But other than that, I'm very blessed sa lahat ng mayroon ako ngayon."
ON BEING A MOTHER. In the end, Camille was asked by Showbiz Central co-host John Lapus what trait of her mom she wants to have now that she is also mother.
Camille answered, "Kasi my mom is very... sobrang overprotective po talaga siya sa amin, sa lahat. At saka she's a hands-on mom, yun yung isang bagay na gusto kong mamana sa kanya. Talagang supermom 'yan. She does everything in the house, in the office. Siya rin yung namamahala yung finance ng opisina, lahat kaya niyang gawin."Wala siyang isang bagay na hindi niya kayang gawin na hopefully someday mamana ko yun sa kanya. Kasi I wanna be there for my son and for my future kids, at the same time, I wanna have my own time na nagagawa ko pa rin lahat ng gusto ko kahit may pamilya ako."
