TV Ratings (June 27-29): Pacquiao's match against Diaz breaks records!

Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao's boxing match against "Dangerous" David Diaz posted a rating of 63.8 percent in Mega Manila, breaking the record of Pacquiao's match against Larios in 2006.

Pinoy boxing champ Manny Pacquiao proved that he is really the bestpound-for-pound boxer in the world as he knocked out Mexican-American DavidDiaz in the ninth round during their match yesterday, June 29 (Philippinetime).

Although slightly delayed, the television broadcast of theirmatch in GMA-7, dubbed as Pacquiao vs. Diaz: Lethal Combination, was also areal knockout; generating a rating of an unbelievable 63.8 percent to rule thedaytime race. The undercard matches, meanwhile, also posted a very high 46.4percent to place second overall.

The rating of the Pacquiao-Diaz fight broke the record ofthe Pacquiao-Larios match, which was aired in ABS-CBN on July 2006, as thehighest-rating Pacquiao match in MegaTAM. The Pacquiao-Larios rated 54.4percent.

Pinoy Idol Extra greatly benefited from the high rating ofthe Pacquiao-Diaz match as it was able to post 20.2 percent rating to grab thethird spot. The TV premiere of the blockbuster comedy film Pasukob, shown inABS-CBN, followed at No. 4 with 16.4 percent.

Showbiz Central took the No. 5 spot with 15 percent;followed by the making of My Monster Mom with 13.4 percent and The Buzz with8.8 percent.

The primetime race was ruled once again by Mel & Joeywith 26.3 percent. Occupying the second and third slots are All Star K (25.5percent) and the elimination of Mae Flores on Pinoy Idol (25 percent).

Kap's Amazing Stories came in fourth while the second gala night of Pinoy DreamAcademy completed the Top 5.

Saturday (June 28) daytime viewing also had Pacman Maniawritten all over it when his show with Chris Tiu, Pinoy Records, topped therace with 24.2 percent. It was followed by perennial No. 1 Eat Bulaga! with23.4 percent; Wish Ko Lang with 17.6 percent; Jungle TV with 16.1 percent; andThat's My Doc with 16 percent to complete the Top 5.

The primetime race was ruled by Bitoy's Funniest Videos byvirtue of its 31.1 percent rating; closely followed by Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho(30.5 percent), and the gala performance night of Pinoy Idol (30.1 percent).


Completing the Top 5 are Pinoy Dream Academy andImbestigador.

Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan posted its highest rating, so far,last Friday (June 27). The new Kapuso Sine Novela got 23.8 percent to top thedaytime race.

Occupying the rest of the Top 5 are Magdusa Ka (19.8percent), Eat Bulaga! (18.7 percent), El Cuerpo del Deseo (18.6 percent), and DaisySiete (17.9 percent).

As usual, Dyesebel topped the primetime race with 41.9percent while the finale episode of Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita ranked second with 37.6 percent.

Joaquin Bordado got 35.6 percent to place third;followed by 24 Oras and The Singing Bee.
