Gimmicks galore run rampant at Bench's "Blackout"

Gimmicks galore ran rampant on the stage of Bench's Blackout to get noticed individually.

The night was filled with almost a hundred stars, with superstars like Richard Gutierrez, Dingdong Dantes, and Richard Gomez to represent GMA-7; and Sam Milby, Diether Ocampo, Jake Cuenca, and the pair of Gerald Anderson and Kim Chui carrying the ABS-CBN banner.

It was understandable that the lesser-known actors had to do something different onstage just to get noticed—some were successful, others were not (and we sympathized).

The aforementioned names got the biggest applause from the full house of Araneta Coliseum last night, July 25. Dagdag na rin sina JC de Vera at Enchong Dee, who went out topless and in low-cut colorful jeans showing their brief lines; ang mga Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Teen Edition Plus guys Robi Domingo and Ejay Falcon; pati na rin ang top three winners ng Be Bench na sina Carlo Guevara, Ron Morales, at John James Uy dahil mga bagong mukha sila. Never mind kung balot na balot na rumampa ang PBB Teen ex-housemates sa isang denim and underwear show with stress on the underwear part.

Malakas din ang naging palakpakan para sa PBB 2 housemate na si Kian Kazemi, who jumped and run around the stage in his skivvies teasing the audience by touching his crotch sa bawat corner of the stage.

Hindi naman nagpatalo ang co-housemate ni Kian na si Bruce Quebral, na bagamat pumasok sa stage almost unnoticed, he literally grabbed his thing at "pinagpag" ito for the camera sa right corner stage, kung kaya't nakakuha siya ng hiyawan from that side. Ibinaba rin niya ng bahagya ang harapan ng kanyang brief, revealing his hair down there.

Ryan Eigenmann stripped for the first time, so he too got a responsive applause.

Sadly, this was not the case for Benj Besa, the former G4 member and now Star Magic member, and StarStruck Avengers Chad Burden and Bugz Daigo, who was last reported to have gone back to Cebu. Rumampa si Benj in his underwear nang wala man lang nakapansin. But Bugz was in a worse situation, rumampa lang siya along with the other no-name models at halos walang nakakilala.

Sa mga nagpaka-daring as in "full monty," it was Rafael Rosell who got the biggest applause na nasa likod pa lang ng lighted translucent curtain ay hinihiyawan na hanggang sa lumabas siya with just his hands cupping his manhood.

Jake Cuenca tried to get the response he used to get during the earlier edition of the biennial Bench event and even teased the crowd with several crotch-handling, but it was not as hot as it used to be. Mas effective pa ang gimmick ni Diet who simply walked the ramp in his low cut jeans with his butt cheeks half-exposed enough for the crowd to go crazy.

Tila alam na rin nina Wendell Ramos, Antonio Aquitania, at Jomari Yllana that they will be walking through a new generation of fans. So they silently did their thing with here and there applause, accepting that they were not part of the "highlights" anymore.

They are luckier than Provoq men Josh Ivan Morales, Gabz Del Rosario, Johnron Tañada, and Niko Arellano. Considered very hot among the gay-themed movie circuit ngayon sa indie movies—Josh starred in Ang Lihim Ni Antonio at sina Gabz at Johnron naman ang bida sa Kambyo na palabas pa rin—sumubok din silang gumawa ng ingay by doing a full strip just like Rafael with just their hands to hide what is it to hide.

Except for a brife shriek from some, walang pumalakpak, walang pumansin, and worst, walang nakakilala na sila pala yun. Adding insult to injury, sa last part of the show kung saan lumabas na ang mga artista, they were not included.
