Nadia Montenegro denies taking over Douglas Quijano's talents

Nadia Montenegro explains her plans regarding the talents of the late talent manager Douglas Quijano. She also finally reveals her thoughts about getting on good terms with Gretchen Barretto.

Nadia Montenegro guested live on Showbiz Central this afternoon, June 21, and faced all of SC's hosts as she answered questions regarding her current controversies, and whether she would handle the late talent manager Douglas Quijano's roster of stars.

People noticed that at Douglas' wake, Nadia and Gretchen Barretto were seen greeting each other. Did this mean that they were friends again?

"It was a Tuesday when I was told that she was coming the next day," Nadia said. "Then, nagkalagnat ako at chills so sabi ko na baka ayaw ni Lord na magkabati kami. At the next day was the wake [Wednesday], we had a meeting with Goms sa private room. Paglabas ko, may bumulong na nandiyan si Gretchen... I did not feel heavy in my heart and I just went to her and hugged her. I knew that it was what Dougs would have wanted. You know, I had not the chance to see Gretchen anywhere after everything. So, noong nagkita kami, I knew it was time."

Did they exchange words? "Just a simple hug. I felt good after that," said Nadia.

With Nadia making the first move, did this mean that she would try to bring back the closeness between them?

"Ayoko madaliin," she answered. "Nothing was planned and I'm not gonna plan also. I want it to come from both of us. I don't think it's going to be the same though it will take time. I am happy where it is now."

NADIA THE MANAGER? News has it that Nadia would be handling Douglas's talents (she is also one of them). How true is this?

"That's not true," Nadia said.

Right now, who calls the shots in managing Douglas's talents?

"Wala talaga," admitted Nadia. "Pero yung usapan namin lahat, if Lucy [Torres-Gomez] has something to ask, she can call Anjo, or if Jom needs something he can call Goma anytime."

But eventually, there can be only one manager. How long does Nadia think it will take until a decision is made regarding the talent handling?

"Tatapusin lang namin ang 9th day," said Nadia. "After the mass, hindi ko lang alam kung matutuloy meeting namin. But hindi naman kami nagmamadali dahil lalo na ako, this is not my bread and butter... But yet it is important that we decide soon, so, God be with us."

HER VOW TO DOUGLAS. Nadia has no movies or shows right now yet her presence at showbiz events made her a prominent person in the business. Does Nadia ever miss being an actress?

Nadia smiled and answered, "My heart, buong-buo, it belongs to show business. Ako, pag pumayat, hindi ako mauubusan ng trabaho because I love the business and my passion is acting... Matigas lang ulo ko at matakaw lang talaga ako."

With her last words, Nadia laughed a little. Then suddenly she perked up and said, "I have a story... Doug died on a Saturday. Before that on a Tuesday, I gave him a contract from a brand. I was offered to lose seventy pounds for a billboard. I gave it to Tito Dougas and said, 'Tito Dougs, may kontrata na ako, finally.' Sabi niya, 'Ms. Montenegro, kahit magmukha kang adik sa kapayatan, e gawin mo yan.'

"The next day, I asked na kunin ko na kontrata. Noon kinuha ko at dinala sa bahay, nalaman ko na hindi niya pinirmahan. Sabi ko, 'Bakit hindi mo pinirmahan?' Sabi niya, 'Hindi na kailangan ang pirma ko.'"

That happened on a Thursday. After two days, Douglas passed away. With or without the contract, Nadia vowed she would lose the pounds—all for Douglas.
