Singer Chriz Cayzer plunges into acting via All My Life

"I love doing the series, kasi I'm with friends like Aljur and Kris [Bernal]. I got to know them during SOP, and it's like one big barkada, na-extend sa taping ng series," says Chris Cayzer about being part of All My Life.

Kumportable sa kanyang pagpapatianod bilang aktor ang Fil-Am singer na si Chris Cayzer. GMA-7 is giving him a break as one of Aljur Abrenica's bandmates in the new romantic drama primetime series All My Life.

This Francis Magalona deadringer is surely making his presence felt with his own achievements.

"That will be a hard climb, I suppose," sabi ng Ingliserong si Chris sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal). "I love doing the series, kasi I'm with friends like Aljur and Kris [Bernal]. I got to know them during SOP, and it's like one big barkada, na-extend sa taping ng series."

Chris, who was brought up by Filipino parents in Australia, is learning fast despite being in the business for almost five years already.

"Matagal na ako sa scene, but this is the first time I'm being given such a good break. It's not just supporting friends. It's more of having fun with them. Each taping day, I look forward to it," ani Chris sa presscon ng All My Life last Tuesday, June 23.

Kung sabagay, hindi naman masyadong heavy stuff ang first acting assignment niya. He plays the role of Joseph in All My Life, a level-headed character.

"Walang masyadong conflict sa buhay niya, basta masaya lang siya. Isa siya sa magbibigay ng lightness sa drama. So far, okay naman. I hope sa mga susunod na assignments ko, I will be given more challenging roles.

"I'm proving to them na kaya ko. Like when they want me to deliver lines in Tagalog, I study the script carefully. I see to it, bago dumating sa set, prepared ako sa lines ko. I practice my Tagalog words. Kung paano ako magsalita, that's it. I deliver my lines in Taglish, kasi yun naman ang nasa script. I have been studying Tagalog, the Filipino alphabet, abakada, and that stuff.

"On the set, I read my script aloud. Everybody's patient with me. I really have to work hard," nangingiting lahad ni Chris.

MUSIC & ACTING. Ang maganda pa rito, nagagawa niyang paghaluin ang music at acting, kasi may musical parts sa teleserye na magkakasama nga sila sa banda nina Aljur, Bryan Termulo, LJ Reyes, at iba pa.

"I love the combination," sambit ni Chris. "It's fine with me. I have this regular exposure on SOP, then a stint in Dear Friend. Things are turning out fine, like I have already signed a contract with Warner Music, and my album with them is scheduled to be released next month.

"To think that we're not yet done with it. May konting inaayos pa sa album, pero happy ako, kasi may works doon sina Ogie Alcasid and Viktoria. They did wonderful compositions for the album, and I'm thankful, really."

Ikinukuwento nga ng manager ni Chris na si Leo Dominguez na natutuwa sila dahil hindi nawawalan ng gigs at out-of-town shows si Chris. Lagi itong busy, lalo na nang maging visible sa TV.

Chris has a schedule in Stonehouse, along E. Rodriguez St., Quezon City, where he plays during acoustics nights. On July 3, he will be in 19 East, Sucat Road, ParaƱaque for some gigs.
