Katrina Halili sets aside controversy for work

Katrina Halili has matured, both as an actress and as a person, from all the trials she's been facing for weeks. Right now, she is concentrating on projects that have come her way, including a coveted role in Rosalinda and the cover of Cosmopolitan's July issue.

The recent controversy between sexy actress Katrina Halili and Hayden Kho over the cosmetic surgeon's sex videos has been a subject of intense interest and curiosity among people in and out of show business. Weeks passed, but the noise level about it remained high, and as more people became involved, it seemed the issue would never end and that Katrina would forever be associated with this scandalous affair.

Out of this mess came an opportunity for Katrina: the coveted role of Fedra on the Mexican telenovela Rosalinda, playing opposite newcomer Carla Abellana and Geoff Eigenmann. Last Sunday, June 21, Startalk visited the photo shoot for the upcoming show and asked the sexy star for an update on the latest happenings in her life.

An upbeat Katrina readily commented about the new show. She raved, "Tuwang tuwa nga ako dahil fan ako ni Thalia! So, gusto ko talaga mga soap operas niya at masayang masaya ako na naatas ako dito."

Katrina revealed that she had wished for the part as early as two months ago. As luck would have it, she became the perfect person to play the part of Fedra. Aside from that, she later learned that she would be working with the same production crew she had worked with before.

"Happy na happy ako dito dahil nandito si Direk Maryo J.," smiled Katrina.

At the pictorial, Katrina finally met Carla and she couldn't be happier to meet the newcomer. "Actually, first time ko lang siya na-meet," admitted Katrina. "Pero noong isang araw, nagkausap kami sa phone. Ok naman siya at mukha siyang mabait."

FIRST TAPING DAY AS FEDRA. The day after the photo shoot, Katrina started acting out her character. "Mas excited na ako at masaya dahil marami na akong taong nakita kasi medyo nakakulong lang ako sa bahay noon."

Did she or any of the crew feel awkward during the first taping day?

"Normal naman ang pagtanggap nila sa akin dito," a happy Katrina said. "Wala namang ilangan. Sobrang saya."

With the experience she faced during these last few weeks, can Katrina say that she is now a better person and a much more effective actress?

"Kung ano ang character na ibinigay sa akin, e doon ako humuhugot sa personality ng taong binigay sa akin," said Katrina. "Hindi sa personal ko na buhay. Ako naman kasi, lahat ng role na ginagampanan ko, e inaaral ko kung ano gagawin ko at kung ano look ko."

Opportunities are still coming in after her trials, and what better way to prove that she is still in the game than to be featured on Cosmopolitan's July 2009 cover. For Katrina, it was a trust that boosted her up.

"Natutuwa ako na nagtiwala sa akin ang Cosmo dahil kinuha nila ako as cover," a thankful Katrina said.

With work coming in for her, will Katrina take her hands off the cases she has filed against Hayden, et al.?

"Siyempre, pinaubaya ko na sa korte kasi nasa korte naman ang kaso. Kung ako, i-set aside ko na ang kaso. Back to work na ako," said Katrina.
