Francine Prieto remains optimistic despite mom's health condition

Life goes on for Francine Prieto. With her mother, Amelia, continuing her brave fight against cancer, the sexy comedienne makes her return to primetime fantaserye via the latest television version of Darna where she will assume a villain role.

Sexy comedienne Francine Prieto remains optimistic that her mother, Amelia Falcon, will overcome her battle against cancer.

"Si Mommy nagpapahinga sa bahay. Natapos na 'yong operation niya nung [July] 24 dahil nga may ovarian cancer Stage 3C siya. So, tinanggal na 'yong dalawang ovaries niya, fallopian tube, pati omentum tinanggal na, kasi 'yon 'yong may tumor, tsaka may bukol. So, tinanggal lahat 'yon," Francine told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last August 3 at the press presentation of Darna held at Studio 5 of GMA Network Center in Quezon City.

Francine will portray the villain character interestingly named Babaeng Tuod in the latest television adaptation of the beloved Pinay high-flying heroine created by legendary Filipino graphic novelist, Mars Ravelo. Playing the lead role of Darna is young actress Marian Rivera.

Despite the successful turnout of the operation of Francine's mother, the happiness felt by the entire family was only temporary as doctors discovered new lumps that needed immediate attention.

HOLDING GROUND. Dealing with the dreaded disease did nothing to dampen the Falcon matriarch's fighting spirit. Francine relayed how her mother continues to enjoy life regardless of her condition and the nuisances of the treatment.

It is normal to feel helpless in dealing with a disease as fatal as cancer. But for Francine and her loved ones, being hopeful as this point in time is critical to keep her mother's mood consistently upbeat. Working while in the midst of a personal crisis can be daunting. But it can also be therapeutic as what Francine discovered.

"Siyempre, nalulungkot ako may sakit ang nanay ko," the actress said.

Being romantically involved with someone, unfortunately, is not part of Francine's priorities as of the moment.

"Parang tingin ko, sagabal," she smiled when the subject was broached.
