Martin Nievera hospitalized after concert; in stable condition

The Concert King, Martin Nievera (right), is now in stable condition after he was rushed to the hospital at the conclusion of his concert with former rival, Gary Valenciano, held last night at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds in Pasay City.

Exhaustion caught up with Concert King, Martin Nievera, following his successful concert with Gary Valenciano last night, September 19, at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds in Pasay City.

The concert, billed AS 1, brought together the former rivals on one stage, officially "ending the Martin-Gary rivalry," said Valenciano at the tail end of the historic event.

According to reports, Nievera complained of dizziness as the show was about to wrap up. Martin's health condition prompted the production team to skip the planned encore medley composed of Earth, Wind and Fire songs.

Martin was in top form throughout the concert though it was noticeable that he was starting to tire as the show headed for the finale. Known more as a balladeer, Martin gamely danced along and performed with Gary on numerous high-octane numbers.

Some surmised that perhaps the demanding physical activity took its toll on the Concert King, leaving him exhausted and dehydrated in the end.

Accompanied by his sons, Robin and Ram, Nievera was rushed to the Makati Medical Center. Gary followed to the hospital to check on Martin's situation and was reportedly "very much relieved" when told by the doctors that Nievera's condition was stable.
