Echo and Tara of Survivor Palau get feisty on Startalk!

Survivor Palau castaways Echo Caceres (right) and Tara Jane Macias (left) got the boot last Friday. But it's not over yet for the two as they claim seats in the Jury that will decide the fate of the remaining players in the popular reality show.

Survivor Philippines: Palau castaways Tara Jane Macias of Cebu and Echo Caceres of Bicol were the ninth and tenth people voted off Palau last Friday, October 16, much to the amazement of viewers who had expected the two feisty women to last in the game.

Yesterday on Startalk, Tara and Echo talked about their experiences on the reality show and what exactly went wrong that resulted in their getting the boot.

Tara, as every Survivor audience knows by now, was notorious on the island as the most mataray female contestant to date. Was that really how her fellow castaways felt about her?

The Cebuana laughed and said, "I don't think so. I mean, I don't care! Who are they to judge me, the fellow castaways? Yeah, right! Sino ba sila and so what kung magtaray ako sa kanila, di ba? Hindi kasi ako mahilig makipagplastikan, e. Nagpapakatotoo lang ako."

Did it come as a surprise to the two when they got booted off the island?

Echo answered, "Sobrang nagulat ako. So patunay lang yung pag-iyak ko na hindi ko talaga inaasahan yung time na mavo-vote out talaga ako. So actually tinanong pa nga ako ni Paolo [Bediones] na if I were to be part of the top 5. Sabi ko sa kanya yes, and very firm pa sagot ko sa kanya. Nagkataon lang talaga na wrong ang move na nagawa ko at hindi nag-last ang strategy ko.

"Right now, looking forward na lang ako sa mangyayari pa and stay positive," she ended with a smile.

CASTOFFS CAST BARBS. Just to liven things up even more, the show revealed that Echo was one of the people who voted to kick Tara off the island. What did the Survivor taray queen have to say about that, now that they were sitting there together in one sofa?

"Haha!" she laughed. "Sabi ko sa kanya, 'Echo, nag-wrong move ka talaga!' Nag-sorry naman siya sa akin. Siyempre, sabi ko after natanggal kami, 'Tignan mo, go down!' Deserving ka and all! Nag-say siya na mukha ko mataray daw ako!"

At this point, Echo cut off the talkative streak by calmly saying, "Just to correct you, girl, hindi ko pinagbasehan ang mukha mong mataray. Pinagbasehan ko lamang ang ugali mo talaga nakita ko sa isla. That time talaga hindi ko gusto na may negative vibrations sa island so nauuna na ang masama. Nagkataon lang talaga na pareho tayong walang narating, so huwag na tayo magmaganda. Anyway, we are Jury so doon na lang tayo bumawi."

"For me, I would not say I'm negative," interjected Tara. "Kasi nagpakatotoo ako. Noong inaway ko si Charles, it's simply nasaktan ako and it was real. I was really mad. At least ako totoo ako..."

Turning to Echo, she continued, "At least I know now alam ko sino plastic ngayon. I have been so good to you always!"

"Well," cut in Echo, "ang masasabi ko lang po is that ginawa ko 'yon at nilaro ko ang game. Maraming tao talaga nagsasabi and they look at me as traydor. Ang masasabi ko lang sa mga tao na iyon is that nagtraydor man ako, e, nilaro ko yung game. Ever since nakuha ako as Survivor Castaway, e, as much as possible, e, ilalaro ko siya na wala ako masyadong masasaktan."

So what do the two have to look forward to after Survivor?

"Showbiz, why not!" volunteered Tara, unsinkable to the end.
