Vice Ganda vows never to leave comedy bar gigs despite success of Showtime

Stand-up comedian Vice Ganda shows his seriousness as a celebrity judge in Showtime by putting it as his top priority right now. He explains, "Pinaghahandaan ko talaga 'yon araw-araw, bago ako matulog.

The year has just begun but Vice Ganda seems to be getting a lot of blessings already. Aside from his daily stint as a celebrity judge in ABS-CBN talent show Showtime, he is also part of the movie Hating Kapatid, starring Judy Ann Santos and Sarah Geronimo, for Viva Films.

When PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) visited the set of Hating Kapatid last week, Vice came straight from Showtime to the shooting at Teatro Marikina in Marikina City.

"Ngarag, pero okay lang," Vice said about his hectic schedule during that day. "Masarap.

Vice, who plays the role of Beauty in Hating Kapatid, also related how happy he is with all the opportunities coming his way.

Vice acknowledges the impact of his stint in Showtime to the success he is reaping now.

"Nagsimula talaga sa Showtime," he said.

Vice admitted that he did not really expect the show to be a hit among viewers.

So sabi ko, 'Paano kaya magdya-jive ito as one group?'

COMEDY BAR OR TV? Before Vice became a household name, he was already popular in the comedy bars arena because of his stand-up acts. But since he became busier with TV and movies projects, the stand-up comedian rarely performs in such places nowadays.

Vice, however, was quick to tell PEP that he would never leave the job that gave him everything he has right now.

Vice said he's setting aside his gigs in comedy bars for a while to give priority to Showtime.

LAUNCHING MOVIE. Another big opportunity that has come Vice's way is a launching movie titled Petrang Kabayo. This and Hating Kapatid are just two of the four movies he signed up with Viva Films.

While Vice is very careful in his comments on Showtime, he says that he may be able to use the comedy styles he does in comedy bars in this movie. "'Yong mga nagawa ko, mga comedy acts ko sa stage, bibitbitin ko sa Petrang Kabayo," he said.

Would he be offended if people start calling him "Petrang Kabayo"?

"Sanay na ako," he replied. Gamitin ko na 'to to my advantage."
