Gretchen Barretto on issue involving Derek Ramsay: "Old na 'yang tsismis na 'yan!"

Gretchen Barretto on the rating of Magkaribal: "I cannot say naman na pressured dahil ako, I'm here to just give my best and nag-e-enjoy lang talaga kami. So, kung ano 'yong nakikita nila, 'yon talaga 'yong nararamdaman namin. Basta alam ko, binibigay ko 'yong todo."

Gretchen Barretto is keeping her promise not to make any more statements about Derek Ramsay, her leading man in Magkaribal. So, Gretchen just laughed when the press asked whether she received a photo from Derek when he and girlfriend Angelica Panganiban arrived from South Africa. (CLICK HERE to read related article.)

"Uy, out with the old, in with the new! Old na 'yang tsismis na 'yan! Laos na 'yan!' she said to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other media who interviewed her during the Preview Best Dressed Ball at the Republiq Resorts World Manila, in Pasay City last Saturday, June 3.

The 40-year-old actress pleaded with the entertainment press to stop asking her about the issue.

"Huwag na nating balikan! Ang hilig-hilig n'yong magbalik, di ba? Let's just enjoy the moment. Tapos na 'yan, di ba? Let's just be positive. Tigilan na natin 'yang mga negative na 'yan," she said.

INSPIRED TO ACT. Gretchen was more interested to talk about Magkaribal, which began airing on ABS-CBN last Monday, June 28, and received a fair rating in the ratings game.

The actress said it was an answered prayer to have many viewers appreciate the new fashion TV series of ABS-CBN.

Gretchen was also surprised that people already call her by her character's name, Victoria.

"Alam mo natutuwa rin ako dahil pag lumalabas ako ang tawag sa akin, 'Victoria! Victoria!' Nakalimutan na si Gretchen, nakalimutan na nila. Pero natutuwa ako na, ayun, Victoria na rin ang pangalan ko."

According to Gretchen, these things make her more inspired to work. She also mentioned that she became more motivated after she received an acting award at the 23rd PMPC Star Awards for TV late last year.

"Natsa-challenge ako sa buhay, sa pag arte at sa role na ibinigay sa akin sa Magkaribal. Talagang inspiradong-inspirado ako to give my best," she added.

UPCOMING MOVIE. Aside from Magkaribal, Gretchen was supposed to do a movie but the project didn't push through because of lack of time.

"Dapat talaga magsu-shoot ako ng movie with Star Cinema, dapat isasabay ko sa Magkaribal na taping. Pero nag-umpisa na kami ng taping ng Magkaribal at ang taping hours namin, talaga namang hindi ko kinakaya. In fact, I was sick for the past five days. Hanggang ngayon, wala pa kong boses," the actress related.

Instead of risking her health, Gretchen decided to take things slowly and do a project one at a time.

She said, "Siguro I will take it easy. Parang easy lang, easy lang muna 'yong gagawin ko. Ngayon, gusto kong mag-concentrate muna sa Magkaribal. And after 'yong Magkaribal, gagawa ako ng pelikula at napag-usapan na namin 'yong pelikula with Angel Locsin under Star Cinema. Siyempre, under the direction of Chito Roño. Pero ano na 'yan, mga towards the end of the year."
