Young actor Rayver Cruz was still raving about the recently concluded Bench denim and underwear fashion show staged last Friday, July 2, at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
Rayver himself couldn't help but repeat the observation of those who attended the highly successful event.
"Happy talaga kasi 'yon nga, madaming tumili sa mga Kapamilya stars. Madami rin naman sa kabila [Kapuso talents], pero sobrang natutuwa ako dahil malakas ang dating ng mga Kapamilya stars. Kasi naman, ibang klase din 'yong ginawa nila Jake [Cuenca], nila Gerald [Anderson], di ba? So, nakakatuwa," Rayver told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other entertainment reporters at the press conference of Cinco yesterday, July 5, at Proud Mary Café Diner on Tomas Morato, Quezon City.
Rayver and Maja Salvador topbill Cinco's "Mata" episode. The Star Cinema five-episode horror film will premiere nationwide starting on July 14.
While Rayver complimented the daring exploits of his peers during the fashion show, the 20-year-old actor doubted if he'd be able to duplicate those "stunts" inside a capacity filled arena with camera lights flashing from all corners.
"Hindi ko kaya 'yong ganun," smiled Rayver, who walked the ramp in a vest and black jeans.
Rayver's physique continues to be a work in progress and he's hoping to be invited again by Bench at its next underwear installment.
"Siguro 'pag may ganun ulit and kasali ako, two years pa naman 'yon, so siguro handang-handa na ko next time," he confidently said.
THE SCORE WITH CRISTINE. Rayver confirmed reports that he is frequently spotted with sexy actress Cristine Reyes.
"Hindi ko naman ide-deny, lumalabas naman kami pero as a group kasi magkakaibigan talaga kami. Pero 'yon lang 'yon. Hindi naman siguro masama magkaroon ng mga kaibigan," said Rayver, who was once linked to actress Shaina Magdayao and singer Sarah Geronimo.
"Magkakaibigan kami," he continued. "Marami kami, as in group kasi may mga common friends kami. And unang-una, kaibigan niya si Dianne [Medina] na girlfriend ng kapatid ko [Rodjun Cruz], so nakakasama ko siya. Kasi kahit tanungin ninyo siya, magkaibigan lang talaga kami and kung may nilalabas naman ako na natitipuhan ko and magkaka-lovelife man ako at kung happy naman ako, siyempre hindi ko naman itatago."
MAJA SALVADOR. During the press conference, "Mata" co-star Maja Salvador revealed that she and Rayver once playfully wondered if there's a chance for them to end up together as real-life lovers.
The two have worked together in a number of projects like Spirits (2004) and Shake, Rattle & Roll XI (2008), to name a few.
"Hindi natatapos ang isang taon na hindi kami nagkakatrabaho... Sobrang kumportable kami sa isa't isa and matagal na kasi 'yong samahan namin kaya hindi na mahirap mag-adjust," said Rayver about his working partnership with Maja.
As for a possible romantic relationship with Maja, Rayver said, "Hindi ko nga alam kung bakit hindi kami nade-develop pero malay natin sa bandang huli kami pala. Minsan nga nagbibiruan kami, 'Gaganyan-ganyan tayo baka mamaya sa huli tayo pala.'"
In "Mata," Maja and Rayver portray an engaged young couple who are suddenly caught in a tight situation after a road rage crime. Director Ato Bautista praised the two stars for effectively giving life to the characters, which allowed the young director to achieve his intended "psychological horror" attack on the project.
