Mariel Rodriguez was put in an awkward moment with her Cinco co-actors, including former boyfriend Zanjoe Marudo, during the movie's press conference last night, July 7, at the Dolphy Theater of ABS-CBN in Quezon City.
The incident started when the invited entertainment media started asking the cast members of Star Cinema's upcoming horror film about karma, which is the main theme of the movie.
The 25-year-old TV host laughed before she gave an intriguing answer: "Ako, honestly, feeling ko totoo ang saying na 'When a door closes, a window opens.' Kumbaga, mas maraming work ang pumasok sa akin dahil... Kunwari, hindi ka pinalad sa ibang aspeto ng buhay, mas maraming darating na iba naman."
The press became even more curious. While some suspected that she was talking about her recent breakup with her boyfriend of three years, Mariel gave a different explanation. (CLICK HERE to read related article.)
"Halimbawa, broken ang family ko, separated ang parents ko. But kahit gano'n, I have grandparents who loved me and raised me. So, kahit gano'n ang nangyari sa sitwasyon ng buhay ko, naging okay pa rin kasi hindi ako pinabayaan ng Diyos," she said.
The Entertainment Live! host's answers hinted that she was game to answer any question related to her past relationship. So she was asked: "Naniniwala ka ba na nakakarma din ang mga salawahan?"
"Of course!" replied Mariel.
Does she think an unfaithful person will also meet someone who will break his/her heart?
Mariel, who was three seats away from Zanjoe, answered, "Siguro you don't wish that. You don't wish that to people you love or loved. You don't do that."
At that moment, Mariel's Wowowee co-host Pokwang interrupted her, saying, "At saka wala namang nanloko kay [Mariel]."
Mariel then turned to the comedienne and quipped, "Mariel? Mariel na rin ang pangalan mo, ha? Natatandaan ko kasi ang tanong kay Mariel, e."
To assure everyone that it's okay for her to answer such questions, she said, "No, seriously, I have an answer... For example, naniniwala ako if someone is unfaithful, may karma na babalik? Siguro, it could happen kasi 'yon nga ang value na itinuturo ng pelikula. Pero as much as possible, I don't think that anyone would wish bad karma on someone."
Mariel will appear as the main actor in the "Mukha" episode, while Zanjoe Marudo will be paired with Pokwang in the "Puso" episode of the five-part horror movie Cinco.
