Glee leads nominations for the 62nd Emmy Awards

Glee, the No. 1 comedy series in the U.S. today received a total of 19 nominations in the 62nd Emmy Awards. Four of its cast members are nominated in the acting categories. The are (top, from left) Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Lea Michele and Chris Colfer.

Glee, the hit musical-comedy series, leads the nominations for the 62nd Emmy Awards, which is acknowledged as the most prestigious award-giving body in U.S. television. Glee receieved a total of 19 nominations.

Glee is one of the six nominees for Best Comedy Series, along with 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Modern Family, Nurse Jackie, and The Office. Glee and Modern Family are the only new shows nominated in this category.

Four of its stars are also nominated in the acting categories: Lea Michele (Best Actress), Matthew Morrison (Best Actor), Jane Lynch (Best Supporting Actress), and Chris Colfer (Best Supporting Actor).

On its second season, Filipino international singing sensation Charice will be joining the cast of Glee. She will play a Filipino exchange student who will be the rival of Lea Michele's character, Rachel. (CLICK HERE to read related story.)

On its first season, Glee won numerous awards from different award-giving bodies: Golden Globe, People's Choice, Teen Choice, Dorian, Satellite, and even the Peabody.

In the Drama category, the periodic drama Mad Men received the most number of nominations with 17, including Best Drama Series.

Most of the nominated shows are being aired in the Philippines through cable channels.
