Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid say rumored wedding in December not yet definite

"I really want to marry this woman. That is the desire of my heart. And should that be granted by God, then I'd probably be the happiest man on earth. That is what we've been praying for. If it is granted, then thank you, Father. It will be a great blessing," says Ogie Alcasid about girlfriend Regine Velasquez.

In the "Behind the Wall" segment of Showbiz Central aired yesterday, July 25, singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid and girlfriend Regine Velasquez clarified an online report tagging December 22, 2010 as their chosen wedding date.

"There will be a time where we will be saying things," he said. "But it's now yet now. Regarding any of those announcements, there's nothing definite about that. I don't know where that came from. But as soon as things are really, really final, as soon as things are definite, as soon as things are certain, you will hear it from me."

The singer-songwriter said that one thing is certain—marriage with Regine is his heart's desire.

"I really want to marry this woman," he told host Pia Guanio. "That is the desire of my heart. And should that be granted by God, then I'd probably be the happiest man on earth. That is what we've been praying for. If it is granted, then thank you Father. It will be a great blessing. And I promise you," he faced Regine, "I will make you the happiest woman on earth."

To this, Regine replied, "Parang sa buong buhay ko naman, wala naman akong ibang gustong mangyari kundi pakasalan ni Ogie Alcasid!"

The couple are still waiting for the decision on the annulment case of Ogie's marriage to former Miss Australia Michelle Van Eimeren here in the Philippines. Michelle married another man in Australia last year.

"I WANT A BABY." In the same interview, Ogie's mother and segment guest Mimi Alcasid asked Regine to clarify her Party Pilipinas teaser statement that says "I want a baby." She asked her future daughter-in-law, "Kailan mo gusto mangyari ito? May time frame ka ba para sa pagiging ina?"

"It's a serious want," she answered. "Actually I was really planning it this year but marami kasing nangyari. Gumawa ako ng Diva. Pero hindi ko naman pinagsisisihan yun," she said. "We're still waiting for something. We all know what we're waiting for. Siguro next year. Kung bibigyan kami ni God ng isa pang blessing, na magkaroon ng baby, I would really be happy."

She also said that if ever she has a baby, she will take a leave from showbiz.

"Pag ginawa ko 'to, I have to rest. Kailangan talaga, bilang hindi naman na ako masyadong bata. Kailangan ko na talagang magpahinga. I have to take a leave. I can't do a show. Wala munang concert, walang anything else except stay at home, take care of myself and my honey."

Without batting an eyelash, Regine was quick to say that she would be willing to give up "everything" for Ogie.

"E, love of my life yun, e, pag-iisipan ko pa ba yun?" she said. "Ang tagal ko nang hinintay 'to, e. I've been in the business for over 25 years. Wala na kong hihilingin. Okay na yung family ko, so ako na lang yung iisipin ko. Kung igi-give up ko 'to, although he doesn't want me to give it up, okay lang yun sa 'kin, I'd be happy to."

Ogie in turn said that he would never ask Regine to give up her singing career.
