Iza Calzado, whom YES! calls the "Sensible Siren," opens her elegant new home to readers of the country's No. 1 entertainment magazine

Iza Calzado allows YES! readers a look at her tasteful home, which is the product of hard work, discipline, and the right attitude.

It's hard to believe that award-winning actress and competent TV host Iza Calzado was once overweight.

"Sobrang taba ko no'on," the beautiful GMA-7 star says in the October issue of YES! magazine. "Nawalan ako ng gana. I started losing confidence."

Iza started gaining weight when she hit her teens, and her self-esteem took a hit. She almost gave up on her childhood dream to become an actress. "Since everybody was saying that the only way for me to become an artista was to lose weight, ni-reject ko yung idea ng pagiging artista," Iza reveals.

She did attempt to lose weight a long time ago and managed to lose a lot of pounds within a year. But she didn't eat. So she got weak and eventually went back to her bad habits, which included drinking a whole big bottle of Coke and consuming a lot of ice cream in one sitting.

Finally, she discovered running. Now she gets her high from joining marathons and running under the guidance of a trainer. Unlike other girls, she says shopping doesn't come close. And the end result is: she has a fabulous body!

In the October issue of YES! magazine, Iza opens up not only about her showbiz beginnings and her weight struggles but also about her home—a bungalow in Quezon City that is her first real property.

According to her interior designer, Iza's dream house initially followed the modern Pinoy theme but eventually became eclectic. Iza worked closely with her interior designer—from buying furniture pieces to selecting home accessories. In all, it is an elegant home.

The YES! October issue has over 40 photos of her house and personal pictures from her childhood and teens.

Also in YES! this October, the hottest celebrity couples share photos from their international travels—Derek Ramsay and Angelica Panganiban in South Africa, plus Kapuso power couples Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera in Canada and the U.S.

This month's issue also features the celebrity weddings of Krista Ranillo with businessman Niño Jefferson Lim and comedienne Tuesday Vargas withmusician Coy Placido.
