PJ Valerio gets the part of Captain Shang in HK Disneyland's Golden Mickeys

"Pretty much it's going to be a vacation for me. I am going to enjoy and have fun. But of course, I am there to work, not just to enjoy, pero it would be fun. It would be a new experience for me," says PJ Valerio about being included in the cast of Golden Mickeys.

"I will be performing for Golden Mickeys na ipinapalabas sa Hong Kong Disneyland. I will play the role of Captain Shang in the play Mulan.

"Golden Mickeys is a mixture of different plays from Disney like Tarzan, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan... So that's what I am going to do basically for one year," pahayag ng Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman mainstay.

Ayon sa Wikipedia, "The Golden Mickeys is a musical revue-style stage show presented in the style of an awards ceremony with characters from Disney films being nominated for awards including heroism, comedy, villains, friendship, and romance."

THE AUDITION. Mahigit daw 200 ang nag-audition at iba't ibang araw ang schedule for singers and dancers.

"When I went through the audition, I felt excited and I really did my best because I really wanted to get the part. God is good," kuwento ng singer-actor na nakalabas na rin sa ilang plays ng Repertory Philippines.

How did he feel when he learned that he got the part?

"I was so excited! Maganda po 'yon. It's a good experience for me. It's a good experience to work abroad and US dollars ang bayad!" natatawang pahayag ni PJ.

"Matagal din naman akong naghintay before I knew I got the part. I was shocked and excited when I learned that I got the part, pero siyempre I am very happy na ako ang napili."

WORK AND VACATION.

"I expect to have a good time and to enjoy. Honestly for me, this would probably be my vacation kasi Captain Shang, I've played that so many times already.

"That was my role before sa Repertory Philippines Children's Theater when they did Mulan. I was Captain Shang in that play. So I know the character by heart. I know the songs and the character.

"I am not sure, pero they might also make me do High School Musical, which I have already done.

"Pretty much it's going to be a vacation for me. I am going to enjoy and have fun. But of course, I am there to work, not just to enjoy, pero it would be fun. It would be a new experience for me," sabi pa ni PJ.

ALONE IN HONG KONG. Dahil isang taon siyang mawawala sa Pilipinas at mag-isa rin siyang titira sa Hong Kong, PJ says the experience will teach him to be more responsible.

Aniya, "Kasi I will be living alone and I will be away from my family. First time ko to be living alone.

"Not only that, I am getting my own place and I will experience paying the bills all by myself. But I am looking forward to it."

I really want to continue with my career here in the Philippines. I am only going to Hong Kong for the experience and vacation also.

"While I am there, it will also give me time to work on myself and maybe I can take acting classes there or something. I want to work on myself there—my body, my looks, everything that I need to improve on, my talent. I want to work on that while I am away."

"Ang dami po. Mami-miss ko ang family ko. I will miss my family, si Tito Joey [Aquino, his manager], my titos and tita, the whole Fundamental Artists Management family kasi they really took care of me. And I will miss Repertory Philippines.

"I will miss Walang Tulugan With The Master Showman. I will miss Kuya Germs and everybody, all the co-hosts.

"I will miss skateboarding. I will miss a lot. Yung iba, hindi ko puwede sabihin," nakangiting sabi niya.

Ano ang sabi ng family niya when they learned he is going to Hong Kong for this job?

"My dad is very excited but my mom is scared kasi mag-isa lang ako doon. 'Saka ako lang yung nag-iisang anak niya na lalake. Baka mamaya baka raw kung ano ang mangyari sa akin. But she's okay na.

"My dad is very happy. Tito Joey is very happy. My whole family is proud.

"I am not nervous at all sa aking trip. Actually, I think it's going to be fun. I am thinking positive about it. I really feel that I will enjoy myself.

"Pero ito ang hindi ko gagawin doon: hindi ako magkakaroon ng girlfriend doon. Ayoko muna. I want to enjoy life. Work and have fun, too," sabi ni PJ.
