Alice Dixson on working with new generation of actors: "They remind me of the time I started my showbiz career."

"Acting is something that I really miss. Kahit na marami rin akong work sa Canada, I always look back on my life when I was acting on TV and in the movies. I miss that terribly," Alice Dixson explains why she came back to work on Babaeng Hampaslupa, TV5's first drama series.

"Acting is something that I really miss. Kahit na marami rin akong work sa Canada, I always look back on my life when I was acting on TV and in the movies. I miss that terribly," ang sabi niya.

"So I really can't deny the acting thing sa buhay ko. I've been in so many shows and worked with so many actors and actresses.

"So when a show as big as Babaeng Hampaslupa came along, hindi ko na ito pinalagpas. I only signed naman for one season of the series and if everything goes well, they will offer another project naman for me to consider.

"For me, it won't be a problem kasi I don't have kids naman, so I can work and travel at the same time without any worries. I am just thankful that my husband (Ronnie Miranda) understands me. He's very supportive."

"Noong magpaalam ako, he just asked me 'Bakit?' I just said that I miss acting and my mom also wants to take a vacation in Manila. Kaya pinayagan niya ako.

"What's nice about my husband is that he's always after what makes me happy. Like when I decided to stay for good in Canada with him, he was the one who got me started. Alam niya that I will have a hard time adjusting to a new place, but he made it easy for me."

"I was supposed to be here noong Christmas pa. I told them naman that I was interested in their offer. But TV5 called me after a month pa and they have na Babaeng Hampaslupa.

"But I didn't say yes kaagad sa kanila. Humingi pa ako ng mga information about the show, yung magiging role ko as a mother looking for her missing child.

"It's a typical soap drama pero maganda yung pagkakasulat ng character because it has something to do with Filipino and Chinese families. And I've never played such a role before. When everything was okay, here I am," ang sabi niya.

Joyce Bernal.

"Pinahirapan nila ako agad," tawa pa niya.

"There's this scene na parang nababaliw na ako because nawawala ang baby ko. It was hard for me at first kasi matagal na akong hindi nakaarte. I didn't know if I was doing it right. Pero wala naman akong narinig na 'cut!' from my directors.

"Si Eric kasi, I've worked with him so many times in the past as my leading man. Kaya he knows me na. Tapos si Joyce Bernal, naging director ko siya in Ang Iibigin Ay Ikaw and Hanggang Kailan. So they know my capacity sa pag-arte. And I guess okay for them ang ginawa ko."

Alice is also looking forward to making a movie habang nandito siya sa Pilipinas.

"Hopefully makagawa ako ng movie. I know that TV5 has its own film outfit. Bahala na kung may i-offer sa akin. The last movie I did kasi was in 2005 pa, yung Enteng Kabisote: Okay Ka Fairy Ko (The Legend Continues) with Vic Sotto. That was during the Metro Manila Film Festival where I played the role of Ina Magenta at hindi si Faye," pag-alala pa niya.

"I guess they see that in YouTube," ngiti niya. "Yun ang naaalala nila sa akin talaga. Okey lang because that really made me and I guess all artistas naman who started as commercial models have memorable commercials.

"I am excited to work with veteran actors like si Ms. Susan Roces but I am as excited to work with the new ones like si Alex Gonzaga, Martin Escudero, Alwyn Uytingco and others.

"Ngayon pa nga lang I feel like a veteran actor na because of the new generation of actors ngayon. They really remind me of the time I started my showbiz career. Masarap lang mag-reminisce once in a while," aniya.
