Randy Santiago's message to critics: "We're doing our best to make them happy, go yippee, and say yehey."

It has been a week since the launch of Happy, Yipee, Yehey!—the noontime show of ABS-CBN, casting Randy Santiago and John Estrada as main hosts.

The network's latest offering elicited various feedback from the public. Some found the show promising, a few were skeptical.

Randy said he welcomes criticisms. "Kung yun naman ang tingin nila, ang magagawa lang namin ay tanggapin at pagbutihin, di ba?" said the 50-year-old Kapamilya star at the formal opening of Belo Medical Clinic at The Greenbelt Residences last night, February 18.

First, he reacted to comments saying the Randy-John tandem is incomplete without Willie Revillame, who became their co-host in Magandang Tanghali Bayan, which aired for seven years—in various incarnations, such as Masayang Tanghali Bayan and MTB Ang Saya Saya—from November 30, 1998 to February 4, 2005.

"Mahirap..." he began without sounding defensive. "Siyempre, pag yun ang nakagawian na nila, e... If we're talking of friendship, siyempre iba yung kapag kaming tatlo, di ba?

"But of course, we'll have to move on dahil for five years, si Willie naman mag-isa. Sasabihin ng tao, masarap din na kasama kaming dalawa (Randy and John), pero na-prove niya na he can do it by himself," Randy said.

And that's one thing he is asking the viewers—to give them a chance.

Randy continued, "Kami naman, we'll try to do the same thing. Sana we can make it work, kahit kaming dalawa lang ni John."

He also explained the so-called "recycled" segments.

"Lahat naman ng mga concepts, kung ano yung matitibay, yun naman yung nilalagay, e," Randy explained.

"Like, for example, if you're talking of 'My Girl'namin, kailangan i-recycle dahil dun kami nakilala ni John. If you're talking of 'Sang Linggo nAPO Sila, yun yung 'Calendar Girl,' e. So imagine, from 'Calendar Girl,' dinala namin sa MTB..."

The idea was revived because their segment was a favorite among viewers. "Yung naughtiness namin ni John, yun yung nami-miss ng mga tao," he said.

"Ang dadali nung ibang mga contest. Kaya bigay lang nang bigay ng prizes."

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE. He refused to let the not-so-favorable reviews dampen his spirits and chose to focus on the fans.

"Ang saya-saya at nakakatuwa na marami nang nakakapanood," Randy said.

When asked to describe his co-hosts, Toni Gonzaga and Mariel Rodriguez, he said: "Unang-una, si Toni, nakatrabaho ko [sa] My One and Only. Batang-bata pa si Toni [nun]. Si Mariel... masyadong seasoned na mga hosts sila, kaya napakadaling katrabaho."

He assured viewers their show will offer more surprises in the coming days. "Marami, sobrang dami! Nangyayari ito dahil sa mga Kapamilya nating nanonood."

JOHN'S WEDDING. Meanwhile, John and bride-to-be Priscilla Meirelles are all set to take their wedding vows on February 26. Randy is the cord bearer.

"Magpapakasal na naman siya. Sabi nga namin, sana ito na ang huling kasal mo. But, of course, we're very happy for him dahil unang-una, mukhang masaya naman siya.

"Of course, sa lahat na blessing sa kanya, sa kanila ni Priscilla, marami... kasama na rin kami, we're just so thankful sa Panginoon, na andiyan siyang gumagabay sa amin," Randy said.

Any advice for John?

"On how to be successful in marriage? Siyempre, huwag titingin. Kailangan maging madilim ang salamin. Walang tingin sa kaliwa, walang tingin sa kanan, dire-diretso lang."

He found it quite funny and ironic that he's giving John tips when "actually, ako ang nakikinig sa kanyang mga advice," Randy said.

Seriously, he's confident about John's decision. "Malalaki na kaming tao, e, di ba? Of course, we've been working a long time and we've been friends for so long."

He did have a message for John. Borrowing a line from a song popularized by Hajji Alejandro "Panakip Butas," Randy sang, "Boy, ikakasal ka nga ba..." and started laughing.

"Brother John, alam mo kung gaano ka namin kamahal. Hindi lang ang Happy, Yippee, Yehey! family mo, nandiyan pati mga kaibigan mo na patuloy na nagmamahal sa iyo.

"We're very happy you're going though another phase in your life. Magkakaroon ka ng bagong pamilya. Nakaka-inggit dahil magiging imported lahat ng mga anak mo!" he said, still laughing.

RAYMART'S MARRIAGE. Randy was caught off guard when The Buzz crew asked him about his youngest brother, Raymart, who is rumored to be having problems with wife Claudine Barretto.

Randy said, "Hindi naman sila naghiwalay. Siyempre, depression din yun... Ang importante, they're still together. Yun lang."

He clarified that he's not in a position to talk about the Kapuso star's marriage.

The reporters asked him again if Raymart and Claudine are still together, and he replied, "I'm very sure."

Lastly, he returned to the issue at hand. His promise to the viewers: "Marami pa kaming gagawin para sa kanila... We're doing our best to make them happy, go yippee, and say yehey."
