Richard Gutierrez says Captain Barbell is more mature now; promises a more dramatic and refined story

"We know na yung mga audiences namin before na mga kids, ngayon lumaki na sila. Mas mature na yung mga audience namin. So kailangan mas mature na yung character ni Teng, even yung character ni Captain Barbell. We're going to establish na marami siyang pinagdaanan dun sa limang taon na yun in terms of love and responsibility," says Richard Gutierrez about the return of his Teng/Captain Barbell character.

BIGGER BUDGET, BIGGER SCOPE.

"Hindi naman dahil sa kailangang magyabang ng network, it's just what the story requires," aniya.

"It's not just the CGI used, but the quality of the CGI our locals can do."

"Before kasi, yung scope ng kuwento namin was in a small town. Ngayon, yung scope ng kuwento namin is around Metro Manila. So, mas malaki na yung mga eksena namin, and mas malaki na rin yung responsibility ni Captain Barbell," kuwento ni Richard.

MORE MATURE TENG AND CAPTAIN BARBELL.

"As we know, five years ago pa yung last na Captain Barbell. We know na yung mga audiences namin before na mga kids, ngayon lumaki na sila. Mas mature na yung mga audience namin.

"So kailangan mas mature na yung character ni Teng, even yung character ni Captain Barbell. We're going to establish na marami siyang pinagdaanan dun sa limang taon na yun in terms of love and responsibility.

Bilang mga kakampi ni Captain Barbell, kasama sa cast sina Michelle Madrigal as Blue Cyclone, Mike Tan as Anino, Frencheska Farr as Sonica, Bea Binene as Blade Girl, Jhake Vargas as Spin Boy, at Ellen Adarna as Fuega.

Collectively, makikilala sila bilang Liga ng Kalayaan, na pamumunuan naman ni Eddie Gutierrez as General Armando, with Bianca King bilang kanyang efficient assistant na si Lary Gempez.

Kasama rin sa cast bilang mga villain sina Christopher de Leon as Nero, TJ Trinidad as Metal Man, Elvis Gutierrez as Black Angel, Ervic Vijandre as Kidlat, Akihiro Sato as Bruno the hulk man, Sam Pinto as Sammy, at Paolo Paraiso as Rodel the sandman.

"Not really. I guess it's just that, since we're launching a new show, and there are a lot of new actresses in GMA, we're also giving avenues for the actresses to be part of the show.

"Each one will have her own storyline.

"Everyone aspires to be Captain Barbell. Everyone wants to have super powers. If you're a guy, you want to be like him, and if you're a girl, you want to have Captain Barbell as your boyfriend.

"So, with all the females in the show, we hope that everyone can relate to a character or a woman who will fall in love with Captain Barbell. Kumbaga, kung barkada kayo ng mga babae, tapos manonood kayo ng Captain Barbell, puwedeng makilala n'yo ang sarili n'yo in one of the girls or mag-identify kayo with one of the girls.

"Like for example, may mataray na character, 'Ay, ako yan!' Or may matapang... We want the audience to empathize with the characters or to identify with someone in the show," saad niya.
