Heart Evangelista says she is not as "gullible" as before

Heart Evangelista says that working in Ilocos reminds her of the time when she shot Panday with her ex-boyfriend Jericho Rosales. She is now part of Regal Films’ remake of Temptation Island.

Heart Evangelista admits that working in Ilocos Norte evokes a lot of memories for her.

"Nakapag-shooting na ako dito once upon a time," recalled Heart, referring to the time when she shot the defunct ABS-CBN TV series Panday in the sand dunes of Ilocos Norte with her ex-boyfriend, Jericho Rosales.

Are these good or bad memories for her?

"Good. The past is always good," she said with a smile.

Has her current boyfriend, Brazilian-Japanese model Daniel Matsunaga, visited her in Ilocos?

"Ayoko," she said firmly.

"Nadi-distract ako, e. Siyempre, iniisip namin ang sarili namin dito, tapos iniisip mo may naghihintay sa ’yo, maaawa ka."

Heart says that she will push through with her plan to visit Brazil with her boyfriend Daniel after the screening of Temptation Island in June.

If Daniel proposes to her during their Brazil trip, would she accept his marriage proposal?

"’Wag muna," she quickly answered.

"Nag-usap na kami, we have to work first."

NOT GULLIBLE ANYMORE. Heart was originally offered the role of an aggressive woman in Temptation Island, but she turned it down. As a result, the daring role went to Lovi Poe.

Heart revealed, "It was so hard for me in the beginning...because I couldn’t do what they want me to do.

"I felt so bad...coz I really want to be part of it. But then again, I didn’t want to compromise naman the movie because of [things na] di ko kayang gawin.

"I guess it’s really for me because they gave me the virgin role, which is perfect."

Heart now plays a college student named Virginia. How does she plan to differentiate her portrayal from Dina Bonnevie’s performance in the original film that was released in the ’80s?

"I think the simplest role is the hardest one to play...how you can do it and yet shine with your role and make a difference...

"The characters are our own rendition of the role."

She described her character by saying, "Mayaman [siya] na taga-Poveda or taga-Assumption.

"In-update nila yung role. Siya yung mas normal. Medyo may konting pagka-exag[gerated] yung pagiging colegiala."

She added, "Nakaka-relate naman ako in some ways...sheltered naman ako ng slight. Especially in the way I speak, it’s very me a few years back.

"Ngayon, medyo through the years, marami akong natutunan, so hindi na masyadong ganoon. I can portray it well because I can relate to it."

How has she matured over the years?

"Siyempre, nauntog ang ulo ko slight many times.

"You gain a little bit of wisdom and when you’re a little bit wiser, you’re not gullible.

"When you are not so gullible, di ka masyadong pa-sweet, tough-looking ka ng konti.

"I guess through the years, I’ve changed."

ALJUR ABRENICA. In this film, Heart gets to work with Machete lead actor Aljur Abrenica, with whom she will have kissing scenes.

When asked about Aljur, Heart describes him by saying, "Mabait.

"Nag-uusap kami sa mga kissing parts...[sabi ko], ’Huwag mong io-open ang mouth mo’...basta understood na ’yon."

NO PLANS TO SUE NEIGHBOR. Last March 19, her parents’ home in Cavite got burned down because of a fire that allegedly started in their neighbor’s house. (CLICK HERE to read related article.)

When asked if her family has plans of filing charges, she candidly answered, "Dedma na. Huwag na lang maulit."

While the fire razed their house, her father decided to save all of their 12 dogs instead of saving their other material possessions.

Heart says that her hands are now full as she takes care of her new pet.

"The dogs are very well. They’re fine...yung isang tuta nasa akin. Isa siyang German Shepherd.

"It’s been causing me stress lately. [Nica ang name]...lahat nginangatngat, lahat nginunguya."

For their new vacation house, Heart says that she wants the design to be similar to a "Spanish villa."
