AROUND THE GLOBE.
"I was born in the Philippines. But at the age of two, we left the Philippines.
"My dad kasi was assigned in a different country. He works in Bayer, and the main office is in Germany, so we moved there.
"Natuto akong mag-football do’n. I learned the language. I got new set of friends that I loved.
"But then, I found out that we had to move again. I was eight then.
"We moved from Germany to Phoenix, Arizona.
"And I played football again. I got chosen to the selection team of Phoenix.
"I had another set of friends. I learned the language and the education system is different again.
"Parang my dad wasn’t happy.
"Every time we move, I cried. Parang I leave my friends again.
"And then we moved again to the Netherlands. I was 10 then.
"Sa Netherlands, I played football again.
"Doon, my dad stopped working and my mom started working naman.
"Parang they tried something new.
"My mom worked in the U.N. Maraming benefits. We can afford it naman.
"Every time na mag-move kami, nahihirapan akong mag-adjust. Ang baba ng grades ko.
"So, we decided to go to the Philippines naman.
"I’m turning 13 then, going to second year high school.
"Tapos, when we moved here in the Philippines, we went to the Quezon province. Walang football do’n.
"Akala ko, walang football sa Philippines.
"So, I learned basketball naman. Naging varsity ako sa high school.
"But when I went to college, nalaman ko, may football pala.
"So, I wasted three and a half years of my life na walang football.
JOINING SHOWBIZ.
Kaya naman his parents can’t afford to pay for his tuition now.
"I was forced to work. I didn’t know where to go. I didn’t know what to do.
"So, I went to modeling, so I can pay a bit for my tuition and have my own allowance.
"I don’t ask anything from my parents anymore," sabi ng 18-year-old newbie.
Seventeen years old daw si Johan nang magsimula siyang mag-modeling.
Ayon pa kay Johan, it was his talent in beatboxing that landed him a role in Bagets.
"Yung hobby ko, beatboxing talaga, and I can dance naman.
"So, sabi ko, ’Why would I not try to audition for Bagets?’
"Nag-audition ako, and they liked my beatboxing.
"My whole life, I love sound," sabi pa niya.
At first, against daw ang parents niya sa pag-aartista niya.
"I could find money raw in so many other ways na hindi showbiz. It eats up your time raw," banggit niya.
"They warned me and I’m having a hard time.
"But then, when they saw the first episode of Bagets, they changed.
"I really have a chance raw. I have potential.
"And they want me just be happy and they see that I’m happy, so they support me talaga."
"E, ang number one priority is the study.
"Pero I still continue with my study as Interdisciplinary Business Studies. I’m in fourth year na."
BAGETS.
"I play the role of Santi Pecson. He is the son of Cheska Iñigo.
"He’s mayabang, really, rich, grew up in a perfect family, always taken care of.
"He has a friend na hindi masyadong mayaman. I want to help him, take care of him, and fell in love with a simple girl also—si Kara Montes. "
"Yeah, we’re super close na," sambit niya.
"Sa una, wala kaming chemistry. We don’t know each other, nagkakahiyaan pa.
"But when you go through thick and thin sa shoot, parang you have a bond. You share a bond."
Now that he’s part of the new batch of Bagets, ano ang expectations niya? Ini-expect niya ba to be a big star?
"I want to," mabilis niyang sabi.
"But I am not expecting anything.
"I just have to give my heart and put my heart into it.
"I can get whatever I want. You just want to really want it."
BROKEN-HEARTED.
Nag-break kami after ilang months lang.
"It wasn’t a good experience, first time ko pa.
"I broke up with her. Hindi ko na kaya.
"But I got back to her after we broke up. Tapos, may guy na pala siya."
IDOLS. Si John Lloyd Cruz ang hinahangaang aktor ni Johan.
"Sobrang grabe niyang umarte!" sambit ng baguhang aktor.
"I watched Amnesia Girl, sobrang grabe siya ro’n.
"That acting, how can he do that? I always think of it.
"I want to start watching more of his movies since I am in this business now."
Sa mga local actresses naman, he has a crush on Cristine Reyes.
Johan’s first love is football. Pero ngayong focused siya sa pag-arte, does it mean igi-give up na niya ang football?
"Ay, hindi," mabilis niyang sabi.
Idol ba niya si Phil Younghusband?
"Hindi," nakangiti niyang sagot.
"Nakakalaban namin. May isang league na UFL, doon sila naglalaro.
"The first division, doon kami naglalaro.
"Pero yung ginawa ng Azkals this year, grabe! Ang galing!"
