Sam Concepcion on foreign acts entering the country: "There should be balance."

"The coming in of international artists give the OPM artists an opportunity to be a front act for them. That’s the upside of it as well and we learn from them," says Sam Concepcion, who will perform as a front act, along with Elmo Magalona, to Miley Cyrus’s concert on Friday, June 17, at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds in Pasay City.

Ani Sam, "I think that’s one of the biggest factors.

"My Taylor Swift performance is probably the one that gave me... siguro it proved that I can perform for a crowd like that.

"It’s one of the biggest performances I’ve ever done. I guess it all started there."

Sabi pa ni Sam, "We’re just there to perform and we’ll give our best for the people and try to get them high kasi ’yon naman talaga ang purpose of being a front act—get the crowd warmed up and get ready for Miley."

ON COMPETITION BY FOREIGN ACTS.

Para sa 18-year-old singer, "There should be balance.

"I understand the OPM or where the OPM artist is coming from.

"Siyempre, the OPM artist sometimes feel neglected or they feel overshadowed by some of the bigger international artist.

"This is true because there are a lot of international artists coming in and perform here in Manila for many reasons.

"First, they have a following here, they have a market here, Filipinos love listening to their music."

Sabi ni Sam, "We can’t stop our audience from listening to them and listening to their music and watching their concert kasi, syempre international [artists], we all want to see them.

"The coming in of international artists give the OPM artists an opportunity to be a front act for them. That’s the upside of it as well and we learn from them."
