Hindi sila magkalaban ni Cherry Pie, who has an entry, as female lead in Adolf Alix Jr.’s Isda (Fable of the Fish).

Cherry Pie lost to character actress Racquel Villavicencio, who won Best Actress for the Directors’ Showcase entry, Bisperas, directed by Jeffrey Jeturian.

"Ang pinakamamahal ko..." banggit ni Cherry Pie, as she read the name of the best actress winner.

Eugene previously won as Best Supporting Actress for Chris Martinez’s New Breed entry 100 in 2008.

LIKE A STAND-UP COMEDIAN. Bilang actress-comedienne, masayang mag-deliver ng thank-you speech si Eugene. Para rin siyang nagpe-perform, impromptu, as a stand-up comedian or comedy actress.

"For the foreign jury, I said, ’I had to eat shit to win this.’

"I cannot do it alone, of course, I would like to thank, forever... from the very first day that I know I wanted to be an actress... I would like to thank my best friend, Chris Martinez, for having a bigger dream; for having bigger dreams for me than I have for myself.

"Thank you so much!" sambit ni Eugene para sa writer ng Ang Babae sa Septic Tank at 100, na kapwa niya pinanalunan ng Cinemalaya awards.

"And for the renaissance man—my director Marlon Rivera. What else can you not do? What else? This is for you also.

"The other cast members... Kean Cipriano, alam ko, mahal mo na ako; JM de Guzman and Cai Cortez.

"And the theater actors from PETA (Philippine Educational Theater Association), thank you so much!

"Sa aking mga producers, Martinez-Rivera Films, Atty. Josabeth (Alonso, of Quantum Films), and JP, thank you so much.

"I would like to acknowledge Fides Cuyugan, congratulations!

Eugene also acknowledged another winner at last night’s ceremonies.

"Shamaine [Buencamino], congratulations! Napakahusay mo.

POST-SPEECH COMEDY. As Eugene was about to exit—matapos nilang magyakap ni Cherry Pie na nakatayo sa may podium by the left side of the stage—she went back centerstage and said, "Cherry Pie, you’re so good, too. I know you really want one of this [trophy]... sa ’yo na ’to.
