(CLICK HERE to read related story.)
"If I had to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person that I love because the first person that I love is God who created me. And I have my faith and my principles and this is what makes me who I am. And if that person loves me, he should love my God too."
FROM MALACAÑANG.
Aniya, "The humility, intellect, and grace that you exhibited during the competition embodied the spirit of the true Filipina.
"In our eyes, that is the true victory today—that the world stood witness to and found an appreciation for the ideals, values, and beauty that has long characterized our nation."
Tinawag namang "beauty and brains" ni Pangulong Benigno Aquino III ang UP Diliman Architecture magna cum laude na si Shamcey.
"On behalf of the Filipino people, we are proud of you; and we see even greater things ahead for you," dagdag pa ng statement.
OPRAH WINFREY.
Sa panayam daw ng NBC News kay Oprah, sinabing nitong, "I have reservations with the results. If the only basis is the Q and A portion, after having been trimmed down to five, Ms. Philippines deserved to win.
"What made her different from the rest is that she had no seconds to rethink her answer as she had no interpreter to break the ice.
"The rest had their interpreters and having breaks on seconds to think about their answers. Hands down, Ms. Philippines answered straight to the point."
Sa panayan sa ABS-CBN News, sinabi ni Gloria, "Everybody has things to say but like I've always said, first of all you will not be there if you're not beautiful, if you're not smart, if you're not tall or pretty.
"But I've told this over and over. It's 99 percent luck. Everybody has an opinion why she did not win, whether the answer was good enough or not good enough.
"To some people it was smart, to some people it was kulang. But really it's just luck at the end of the day."
"Super karangalan. Just the thought na two in a row. Last year we had Venus and then Shamcey. I think that's super good.
"Baka next year nandiyan na...Baka next year, two winners na."
"Very nice answers from all the contestants," sabi ni Joyce.
"I love them all but my major major choice is SHAMCEY SUPSUP of the PHILIPPINES - thank you girl for standing up for Jesus!
"Display your faith to the world, God gave you the chance to declare your faith to a billion people watching this show, you are a blessing!"
TWITTER POSTS.
Maxene Magalona: "Noooo way :( Shamcey should've won the Miss Universe crown!!! :("
Sabi pa ni Maxene, "But Angola deserves the title as well.. It was either her or Shamcey for me! Congrats, Angola and Philippines! :)"
Tuesday Vargas: "as for Shamcey- Mabuhay ka girl! ikaw ang panalo sa puso namin."
Martin Bautista: "Can't get over how amazing Shamcey in the competition. She nailed it, killed it, owned it!"
We are very proud of you :) #3rd runner up :)"
Nag-tweet din si 1993 Miss World second runner-up Ruffa Gutierrez, "Even Oprah Winfrey thinks Philippines should have won! Shamcey Supsup...you've made us proud. We were all cheering for you! Congratulations!"
Maging si Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago ay nag-tweet din: “ShamceySupsup did very well. She was an ideal candidate who represented the best in the Filipina. Congratulations, Shamcey!"
