JC De Vera describes relationship with Danita Paner as "weather-weather lang"

JC De Vera on working with Jasmine Curtis-Smith: "Matalino naman si Jas, e, kaya madali siyang maturuan. Hindi siya madaling pakisamahan kaya..."

The lady cuts in, "Hindi ako madaling pakisamahan?!?"

Realizing his error, he says, "Ay, madali pala siyang...Sorry, sorry...Madali siyang...Madali siyang ano, pakisamahan, kaya napakagaan no’ng trabaho sa akin."

On- and off-camera, JC De Vera acts like an utol to his leading lady Jasmine Curtis-Smith.

He’s 25, she’s 18. He’s been in the business for about eight years, while she’s a newbie who was launched by TV5 only late last year.

The actor is glad about the transformation of Anne Curtis’s younger sister. He narrates, "Kung mapapanood niyo talaga from day one hanggang matapos yung show, ah, yung development nung pagiging aktor, nandun na sa kanya, e. Na-develop niya in one show, so, di ba, unbelievable?"

The remark earns a "thanks naman" response from the young lady.

Moving on, JC says with a grin, "Kasi ’yong episode one nung Utol, chubby-chubby pa siya tapos..."

Jas (her nickname) butts in, "Uy, hindi naman! Hindi ako chubby. Mas may laman lang..."

JC continues, turning a little more serious, "Kasi isipin mo, ilang months naming tine-tape ’yon tapos in a matter of eight months, from day one na nag-shoot kami hanggang natapos yung show, nag-iba yung hitsura niya, nag-bloom, naging dalaga, di ba?

"So, pag napanood mo yung episode one, talagang ano pa siya, e, bata pa, e, di ba?"

She may be "in love," the guy teases.

Her retort, "Naku, hindi! Bawal ’yan...Walang oras para sa love noh?"

FALLING FOR JAS? With the press witnessing their spontaneous banter, their chemistry is undoubtedly palpable.

Would he fall for her?

"Oo," he quickly replies. "Mahirap i-explain, e. Mahirap i-explain. Parang ano, sa personality naman ni Jas, hindi ka naman, hindi naman impossible na ano, e, na hindi ka... Ako pa yung tinanong, e... Ako pa yung tinanong, sa lahat naman ng naka-partner ko yata, e...

"Para sa akin, hindi imposibleng mag-fall sa kanya kasi, di ba, lahat naman ng ano, mahahanap mo na sa kanya, e—nakatira sa Australia..."

Jas’s laughter fills the room.

Also laughing, JC adds, "Yun yung una, di ba? Kasi ’di ba pag kinasal kayo, o di ba, ano na kayo, makakarating ka, ’Dun ka na nakatira ngayon,’ sasabihing gano’n."

Kidding aside, he describes the half-Filipina/ half-Australian star as "maganda and matalino," before repeating in jest, "Tapos, nakatira sa Australia! Yun pa din, e..."

But what he likes about Bing Grace (Jas’s character in Utol), is that she’s not "mahirap pakisamahan talaga."

The people on the set like working with his leading lady, "Napakadali, try niyo," JC says.

OVERCOMING "ONE-YEAR CRISIS" WITH DANITA PANER. Sadly, for the fans of JC and Jas, the former is already taken, while the latter is "bawal pang ma-in love."

His relationship with Danita Paner becomes the next topic.

"Makulay po," he initially says, before stating, "Weather-weather lang. Minsan may bagyo, minsan wala. Minsan, nag-aaway. Minsan, okay."

But during the latter part of the interview, he reveals the usual cause of their quarrels.

Always being there.

"Maraming tampuhan na ganun... pagdating sa work. Kasi, kailangan mong ituro sa kanya yung dos and don’ts, yung mga tamang daan."

And how does he deal with it?

He says with a pilyo smile, "Minsan, nakakatulugan ko po."

But he’s very much aware that most things have to be taught and some learned through experience.

"Yung mga ganyan naman, ano, e, kelangan mo talagang bigyan ng time. Kahit time para kay Jas, e, para matuto. Hindi ’yan matututo kaagad ng isang show, alam niya lahat. Hindi, e. Years niyang matutunan ’yan, e.

"Saka ano iyan, e, never-ending learning process kasi every now and then, may nai-experience kang bago sa buhay mo.’

Any truth to the rumors that they had a cool off?

Jokingly, he answers, "Hindi ko alam. Si Jun yata nagsulat nun. Opo, hindi ko po alam. Tanong niyo po si Jun."

(He’s referring to Jun Lalin, the publicist of Royale Artists Management, which handles JC’s career.)

Then, on a more serious note, "Hindi po, hindi po. May mga panahon lang na binabagyo din kaming dalawa. Pero lahat naman, dumadaan sa ganun, e. Normal... So, normal din yung nag-aaway kayo dahil sa work. Nag-aaway sa schedule."

Tabloid columnist and PEP contributor Nitz Miralles asks: "As of today, ano ba ang weather forecast?"

His response: "Medyo sunny."

Recently, JC and Danita celebrated their first anniversary, which he calls, "one-year crisis."

"Yun yung tinatawag na one-year crisis. Biglang dumadaan sa critical stage yun, e, pag papa-one year na. So ngayon, kritikal. Kritikal yung mga ganung ano, mga ganung oras, e."

How did they celebrate?

"May bagyo, e. Kain lang sa labas bilang bumabagyo kasi nung time na yun."

Is he getting along well with Danita’s mom, Daisy Romualdez?

His reply: "Mabait yun. Never kaming nagkaroon ng tampuhan ni Tita Daisy. Never akong naka-experience sa kanya na pinagalitan niya ’ko or meron kaming pinag-usapan na very personal tungkol sa anak niya."

Lastly, columnist Vinia Vivar asks about Daisy’s reported plan to talk to the media about her daughter’s relationship.

His reaction: "A, siguro... Ewan ko, basta ako, inaalagaan ko lang din si Dan [Danita’s nickname]. Sinusuportahan ko siya. Wala din namang nangyayaring masama sa anak niya. Never ding nagkaroon ng experience si Dan na masama pagdating sa business na ’to kaya so far, so good."
