"Crazy. Wild. Intense."
THE SIMPLE THINGS.
Pahayag niya, "Kasi, you really get to see things that you take for granted here in Manila, na parang it’s really important there.
"I mean, I love my family, I love my friends, everything.
"But when you’re there, you really get to see the importance, e...kung gaano talaga ka-importante ang relationships.
"So, even with food... I mean, konting toyo lang, konting patis, talagang when you get back here, parang sobrang...it’s a blessing!
"And you get to see blessings each and every day that you’re here. But you take it for granted, e. And it’s sad.
"And now, parang I don’t anymore. I don’t anymore.
"Parang simpleng hello lang sa family, or simple I love you, it’s really something na parang eye-opener for me."
THE WEATHER CONDITION.
Paliwanag niya, "Kasi, think about it, you’re sleeping under the rain...actually, not rain—storms.
"Sometimes you don’t have shelter, you know.
"And it’s hard because you’re trying to maintain a fire and it gets put off by the weather condition.
"It’s hard. You get cold.
"There comes a point na maha-hypothermia ka na, gusto mo nang mag-quit.
"But siyempre, you think about the reasons why you are doing it—you want to fight."
THE SOCIAL GAME.
Aniya, "Parang you get to a point where you build relationships, so it’s hard.
"It’s because some people are saying this, and some are saying this...
"It’s really difficult also, like who to trust and not to trust."
May nasira bang relationship sa part niya?
"A, you have to watch it talaga!" tawa ni Gino.
"But I can say is that a lot of us really grew in the experience.
"Even coming back here, mas naging close kami actually—all of us."
Wala naman siyang nakaaway sa isla, pero dagdag niya, "But, of course, we really haven’t seen what happened, so aabangan din namin actually."
"I think for me, physical challenges are really important talaga.
"Especially when you watch Survivor naman talaga, it’s really important at first, e.
"But like what other castaways say, Survivor is 25 percent physical and 75 percent mental.
"So, for me, I think it’s both 50/50, na parang mentally and physically, sometimes also emotionally, of course.
"I think your emotions really get in the way at times."
TANDEM WITH STEF.
Sagot niya, "For me, it was difficult in some parts, and it was a disadvantage in some parts.
"I’ve known Stef kasi for around three years, but the thing is, sometimes, parang...
"Mahirap, of course. I mean, ang pinaka-twist of the show is couples, e. And you get to do things sabay.
It’s a disadvantage.
"But at the end of the day...mas nagiging stronger naman yung relationship ninyo.
"We learn from it."
What about in challenges, nakakasabay ba sa kanya si Stef?
Ayon kay Gino, "Stef is actually a fighter naman, e. She’s physically fit also.
"In terms of some strategies, sa mga physical challenges, merong kanyang-kanyang weaknesses, may kanya-kanyang strengths.
"So, lumalabas yung advantages sometimes and disadvantages in some challenges...
"Sometimes it can be a mindgame, it can be like puzzles, endurance... Iba-iba, e.
"Like I said, Survivor is not just a game for one specific person, kunwari Gino, or kunwari, let’s say the Volcanoes, strength, gano’n.
"Iba-iba, e. Halo-halo talaga siya, yung mga challenges.
"So, lahat ng tao may weakness, and lahat ng tao may strengths.
"So, hindi porke’t isang tao, mananalo siya lahat, no. It’s really different.
"If there’s one thing I love about the game, parang if you can do all challenges, you’re someone who’s really good.
"But the thing is, you can’t, e.
"There are different types of challenges and sometimes it’s not your... how do I say this... it’s not the icing of your cake, e."
Pero aniya, "I think that... for me, I can say yes.
"I think in general kasi, having a partner in this game would be really difficult.
"Everyone had their difficulties with their partners.
"But for me, I can say that she’s the best partner for me out of all the castaways...
"I mean, there are some hardships, but at the end of the day, a...
"Ang nagustuhan ko sa kanya, she was strong also sa gut niya, sa damdamin niya talaga.
"Naipakita niya ’yon."
GINO AS A CASTAWAY.
"I think they will be really proud of me," mabilis niyang sagot.
"Being there pa lang, they know already who I am.
"And I can say naman na that I played the game.
"I played the game sometimes with my character, or sometimes as a player.
"Of course, I do things that they will be proud of me."
Does it pay off being a good guy in Survivor?
"For me, it’s a disadvantage really, because sometimes when you trust people too much, it can be a disadvantage.
"It has a lot of disadvantages.
"Siguro at the end of the day, ang advantage ko lang dun is you have integrity."
"Yes, yes... siyempre being there, not having food, with the weather condition, the things that are going on around you, it’s hard, e. It’s hard.
"But siyempre, I mean it’s one of the reasons why I joined, e, para makita ko talaga saan ko maaabot yung sarili ko.
"And I’m happy naman na na-test yung patience ko in a way na hindi naman talaga nag... you know, hindi naman ako sumabog talaga.
"Siguro, there were some things na talagang nagbubuo na sa loob mo.
"It was just a matter when...kung kailan mo ipu-push yung button mo o hindi, e.
"It’s hard, e.
"Kasi siyempre, with us in a normal day, hindi ka lang makakain...
"But this is like more than weeks that you haven’t eaten a proper meal, that you don’t have a proper shelter, you don’t gave a proper clothing, proper bath, vitamins, proteins...
"So, it’s really... it’s insane.
"It’s insane, but given the chance that I’ll do it again, I would."
