Gwendoline Ruais not joining showbiz just yet: "Focused muna ako sa duties ko as Miss World First Princess."

"Siyempre po, nakaka-touch naman. Super touched ako sa lahat ng suporta ng Pilipinas. People were proud of me. Hindi ko ma-control ang iyak ko. Lahat ng family ko, nanood [sa London]. Super happy sila," says Gwendoline Ruais on winning first runnerup in the Miss World beauty pageant.

TEARS OF JOY. Sinabi niya sa media, kasama na ang PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), "Siyempre po, nakaka-touch naman. Super touched ako sa lahat ng suporta ng Pilipinas.

"People were proud of me. Hindi ko ma-control ang iyak ko.

"Lahat ng family ko, nanood [sa London]. Super happy sila.

"Talagang overwhelming ang reaction nila.

"They’re proud of me, my family, the Philippines. Super touched ako. I’m very happy as well.

"After the pageant, nakipagkita ako sa family ko. They waited for me [until] midnight sa hotel. Nag-catch up kami.

FRIENDS FOR LIFE. Anong experience ang hinding-hindi niya makakalimutan?

"Most memorable, every time we have dinner... si Miss Thailand, Miss Peru, Miss Czechoslovakia...

"We always get together for dinner, for lunch, [and] no matter what, we laugh so much... Friends for life talaga."

Embarrassing moments?

"Wala naman. It’s really a great experience.

"I was really happy with all the girls. We’re great friends.

"It’s like a huge [international] family of beautiful girls.

Hardest moments?

"Ang pinakamahirap na naranasan ko—pumunta kami sa Scotland. Ang lamig doon.

"Kailangan maging fabulous, mga gowns mga dresses... ang lamig-lamig doon.

"Nagpunta rin kami sa London Eye [giant Ferris wheel located at the banks of the River Thames]. Lahat kami. Naka-gown at 7 a.m.

"Ang lamig-lamig tapos kailangan mo po mag-smile. ’Yon siguro ang pinakamahirap."

HAIR AND MAKEUP. Is it true she did her own hair and makeup for the coronation night?

"May hairstlylists at makeup artists but I chose to do my own hair and makeup.

"Ako lang po... You can have them do it pero in the end, it’s up to you.

"You’ll have no regrets kung ginawa mo talaga lahat... ginawa ko talaga para no matter what happens, nasa akin ’yan.

"We spoke about it, mga trainers ko and my mother, kung ano ba ang hairstyle at makeup na bagay sa akin.

"In the end, kung ano ang mas feel ko, mas confident ako, ’yon ang napili ko.

Hindi ba siya kinabahan?

"Everyone on that stage, may kaba talaga.

"You’re representing your country, you wanna make [your people] proud.

"You’re in front of two billion people. One third of the world is watching you—live.

"Nakaka-stress talaga ’yan. Sa isip ko, I will do my best and make my country and family proud."

ON SHAMCEY SUPSUP. Any plans to join showbiz?

"Focused muna ako sa duties ko as Miss World First Princess... Tingnan po natin after my duties.

"Like I’ve said before, never say never.

"We’ll see kung may mga opportunity, but as of now, I just arrived. I don’ t know anything yet.

How does she feel being compared to Shamcey Supsup, Miss Universe 3rd runnerup?

"Friend ko naman siya. Sana po, I will see her soon.

"Sana, I get to see her kung available ang schedule ko.

"We come from the same family naman in Pantene.

"Hindi naman ganoon ang image ko. Ang sa akin lang po, I represented the Philippines.

"I did my best so I’m happy naman.

"She also represented the Philippines [and] she did her best.
