Tirso Cruz III comes full circle in Valiente remake

Tirso Cruz III is joined by Michael de Mesa in the remake of Valiente. Both Tirso and Michael are alumni of the original TV series and they return to the set with Oyo Sotto and JC de Vera doing their roles. Gauging from Tirso’s reaction, he finds filming the remake quite nostalgic and describes it as: “And of course seeing Mike is a lot of fun…

FIRST VALIENTE.

Ayon kay Tirso, “Masaya kasi nga, first of all, naka-full cycle ako, di ba?

“We started this and now it’s back and now we’re still… ang pinakamaganda, naging part pa rin ako ng remake nitong Valiente.

“And of course seeing Mike [Michael] is a lot of fun…

"Nung first day nga na nag-tape ako, kami ang magkakaeksena.

“Masaya, we were looking back na… well, naiba na ng konti, pero maganda yung takbo ng istorya.”

WRONG TIMING.

"Kasi actually, the truth is, talagang nakaplano sila na kasama ako from the start. Kasama ako.

"Kaya lang, unfortunately, I was committed already dun sa isang soap—yung Budoy [of ABS-CBN].

“Sabi ko, ‘Much as I want to be part of it right away, ayoko namang makabigat sa schedule ninyo.’

“’Tapos sabi nila, ‘Hindi, kung matapos ka and nag-i-start pa lang naman, and yung character papasok much later, are you willing?’

“Sabi ko, ‘More than willing!.’ Sbi ko, ‘Walang second thoughts about it.’

“Just a matter of fixing nga ng schedule para walang conflict, so ayan, natuloy din.”

NEW BREED.

“They’re doing very good, I mean, yung dalawang bata is doing a very good job!

“Nakaganap na rin naman sila ng iba-iba characters so they’re doing very well.

“Of course, talent fees are always considerations—let’s not be hypocritical about it.

“Pero it’s more of the utang na loob and the relationship I have with Mr. Tuviera"

Patuloy ni Pip, “Kasi, like you said nga from many years ago, from late ’80s yun or maybe ’80s na, sinimulan namin ito.

“It was Mr. Tuviera who had enough belief in us ni Mike na mabibigyan namin ng magandang buhay yung mga characters na yun at saka yung show mismo—yung Valiente.”

NORA-TIRSO TANDEM. At bilang si Tirso ang dating ka-loveteam ng Superstar na si Nora Aunor—with the Guy & Pip blockbuster tandem noong ’70s—ano ang masasabi niya sa pagbabalik-showbiz ni Ate Guy?

Sagot ni Pip, “Well, it’s her right. I mean she has earned that naman, di ba?

“She has made her mark in Philippine movie history and television. It’s her right.

"Kung gusto niyang bumalik, why not, hindi ba?

“This is where it all started for her.

“Sabi ko, ‘What can I say? That’s her call, that’s her decision.’

“Magkasabay din at kauumpisa ko lang ng project sa kanila [ABS-CBN]—first a movie and then two soaps.

“Yung movie, yung No Other Woman, and the first soap nga is yung Budoy.

“And now, itong ginagawa namin currently, supposedly yung kay Robin Padilla, Kris Aquino, and Anne Curtis.”

Wala bang plano na pagsamahin sila ni Ate Guy in a project?

“Na para lang masabi na may ginawa, which kahit ako naman, I wouldn’t find that very interesting or very uplifting na gagawa kayo ng movie just to be able to make a movie.

“Oo! Sabi ko nga, first and foremost, nandito ako. It’s my job, hindi ba?

“All the more! Mas maganda nga if it’s a movie na talagang pagtatrabahuhan, paghihirapan, gagawan ng magandang script na magiging malaking production.

“It would be better not only for all of us pati rin for the industry, mas maganda!”
