Ray Espinosa (CEO and President) at Mr. Perci Intalan (Head for Creative and Entertainmen).

THE DECISION.

“It took a long time… half a year, actually,” sambit niya.

“A weighing scale of which decision to make.

“You know, I think I proved my loyalty to ABS two years ago when I was being offered to transfer but I signed a contract for two years.

“For me, siguro, change is always good and I think I’m at that point in my career when it’s time to change.

“I think it’s that point in my career when I like the project na ginawa ko.

“Pero iba ‘pag papasok ka sa trabaho, ‘tapos there’s something talaga that feels your passion, your interest.

“And TV5 was giving me projects or offers that’s close to the passion that I have.

“So, I’m really excited to do that [and] that’s what pushed me to make that decision." paliwanag ng hunky actor.

BASHERS.

“Yes, you know, marami yung nagsabi na mukha akong pera… I respect their opinion.

“We’re all individuals, we’re all different, we’re all wired differently.

I respect what you say.’

“But at the end of the day, I’m [the one] who’s going to work and I’m going to do this for them.

“So, sana yung suporta na ibigay nila is because of… anong nabibigay ko.”

“No, no, no, no… I even read them. I want to know what people think or say about me.

“With this decision I made, I know who really support me, I know who really love me, and I know who’s gonna stay with me through the good times and the bad.

“Actually, some of the bashers apologized, which is an amazing feeling na they realized that, you know, ‘I’m just venting, and I’m a fan, I’ll support you wherever you go.’

“Ang sarap ng feeling na ganun.

“Meron namang mga iba na ‘di naman ako napikon, I was annoyed kasi sinama pa nila yung pamilya ko na ‘Mamatay pa yung pamilya ko’ and all this. Wow!

“So, yung mga ganun. ‘Pag merong mga comments na na ganun, I just block that.”

“You know what? I replied to their tweets, even to the ones that bashed me.

“I replied to their tweets just as much as I replied to those that support me.

“Sinabi ko sa kanila na, ‘If that’s your opinion, I understand that. You don’t have to prove to me that you’re loyal to Channel 2.’

“I even said na ‘Continue your support to Channel 2.’

“Ang masarap dun, most of them na nagbigay nga ng comment, nag-apologize and said they were just venting out.

“Sinabi ko na, ‘I completely understand [and] thanks that you’re gonna continue to support me.’

“I hardly block anyone on Twitter whether nagbibigay sila ng negative comments. I like to read that, you know—constructive criticism.

“Pero ‘pag nagbigay na sila ng comment na it’s not naman an opinion, it’s just… nananakit ka na, iba-block na kita.”

ANGELICA’S REACTION.

Ako sa Australia with a friend.

“Luckily I was able to play golf with Zac Efron— the highlight of my trip.

“She’s supportive of anything that I do—sports, life, and decisions in my career.

“But she said, ‘Do what will make you happy. Do what you think is best for you.’”

“We keep our careers separate, you know.

“She has more of the right to give advice. I’m sure she’ll be able to handle that.

“She just recently… signed with Channel 2, so matagal pa yun.”

AMAZING RACE.

Saad niya, “Ibibigay ko talaga lahat sa three years whether it’s movies, teleserye, hosting.

“I want to continue growing and try to show a different Derek Ramsay in the Kapatid network.

“And it’s gonna ba a good, exciting three years.

“It’s gonna be the perfect fit.”

Gaya ng unang naiulat, ang unang magiging show ni Derek sa TV5 ay ang The Amazing Race Philippines, ang local franchise ng Emmy-winning reality show sa Amerika.

Ni-request niya ba ang Amazing Race?

“Actually, hindi.

“Ever since that show came out, I’ve been wanting to participate.

“But yeah, I’ll be hosting Amazing Race,” pagkumpirma ng aktor.

Dagdag pa niya, “I cannot believe that they entrusted me to be the host of Amazing Race!

“One of my passions is travelling. I’m gonna get to go around my own country.

“We have so many beautiful places in the Philippines. I’ve travelled [to] a lot [of places in the] country but I’m sure marami pang lugar na hindi ko pa napupuntahan.

“I mean, anong klaseng trabaho yun, di ba? Nakakapag-ikot ako.

“I’m gonna go to paradise and say, ‘You’re team number one, you’re team number two, you’re last…’

"That would be the most negative part about this project but I mean to get to travel and see our beautiful country, that’s amazing!”

THE OLYMPICS.

Aniya, “I think ever since I started showbiz, I’ve been breaking bones—left and right injuries, here and there.

“Actually, sa July lalaban din ako sa Japan for the World Cup Frisbee…

“Sa Olympics, I was there in Beijing…

“That’s a chance in a lifetime and I’m not gonna pass on that. I’m very, very excited for that.”

Dagdag pa ni Derek, “I’m looking forward to watching, admiring not only Filipino athletes but the athletes all around the world competing in the biggest sports event in the world.

“Sana nga ma-experience ng lahat and be happy sa Pilipinas with the help of TV5. Mas nagiging aware ang mga tao with all these different kinds of sports.

“And TV5 is very supportive of the Filipino athletes and sports. I admire that.”

KAPATID STARS.

Sabi ni Derek, “They’re the biggest names in the country.

“I’ve worked with Sharon in her concert and in The Biggest Loser.

“I’m gonna be with Ate Shawie next month. I think we’re gonna go around Canada. Naks, nag-promote na!

‘First duet ko ever—live—is with Ate Shawie. Ang kapal ng mukha ko, ‘no?

“I’m sure I’m gonna be doing that on tour.

“But to be able to work with Nora, Aga on the big screen—yeah, all those big names—will be the feeling I got when I worked with Maricel Soriano.

“I’ll be nervous, I’ll be excited. I’m looking forward to that.”
