Vilma Santos and Dolphy also proposed to be named National Artists

After a proposal was made to declare Nora Aunor as National Artist, Vilma Santos and Dolphy’s names were next to be mentioned, saying they also contributed a lot in both TV and film industry.

Ani Representative Golez, “The Filipino people is now entangled with so many public issues, like the seemingly uncontrollable rise of prices of fuel and commodities but we should not lose hope.

“There are a lot of things going for our country and the enshrinement of Ms. Nora Aunor as a National Artist is a sure feel good thing that the Filipinos can hold on to.”

Tañada, “As soon as session opens, we can already file it.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda, “If and when the submission is given, then we’ll certainly take it into consideration.

“I don’t want to wade to the… I don’t want to wade into the Nora-Vilma battle at this point.”

DOLPHY FIRST.

LEAVE IT TO THE PRESIDENT.

Ani Senator Chiz, “There is no need for a congressional action to name Nora Aunor or even Batangas Governor Vilma Santos as National Artists, since it was delegated to the chief executive who can issue a proclamation upon recommendation of various arts and culture bodies.

“That would be the job of the Executive, not by Congress which has been preoccupied by the Impeachment trial.

“And there are so many pending bills that our people need.

“Whether it is Nora Aunor or Ms. Vilma Santos, it is the prerogative of the chief executive to award them with such title.”
