On April 19, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with Anne Curtis at her launch party as the newest ambassador for Avon cosmetics’ new Shine Attract lipstick line.
In an open forum with the press after the short program, the actress-host shared the latest updates about her current and upcoming projects.
NO ISSUES WITH THE IT’S SHOWTIME FAMILY. Anne once again clarified that there is no truth to the rumored rift between her It’s Showtime co-host Vice Ganda and the show’s director Bobet Vidanes.
According to previous reports, Direk Bobet was believed to have resigned from the show due to a misunderstanding with Vice.
Rumor has it that the comedian has changed his ways since the success of his movie Praybeyt Benajmin, which turned out to be the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.
Anne was asked by the entertainment press whether she’s had any bad experience with Vice on the set.
She said, “No, wala naman. I mean, meron din kaming mga issues ni Vice, pero hindi seryoso.
“Alam mo iyong nag-aasaran kami? Pero wala pa iyong tulad ng sinasabi nila na pikunan na serious na it caused a big fight and commotion. Wala."
With regards to the issue between Vice and Direk Bobet, Anne had this to say: “Wala namang issue so I really don’t know where it’s coming from.
“But you know, I think it’s all part of the industry. As always, they’ll always have something to say.
“So, as of now, it’s safe to say na walang issue.
"We’re all working as a family, ’tulad kanina, ang saya saya namin so wala, walang issue.”
RIDING THE MRT AGAIN. As Anne puts it, the set of It’s Showtime remains to be fun and peachy, which is primarily why she is always excited to go to work every morning.
In fact, she would make that extra effort just to get to the set on time.
On April 17, Anne—who was already running late coming from the set of her new soap opera—bravely took an MRT ride from Boni Avenue station to Quezon Avenue station.
“Nag-MRT ako kasi late na ako na-pullout from Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw, and we were taping all the way in NAIA, so para umabot sa Showtime, nag-MRT ako.
"I was late siguro mga 10-15 minutes lang.”
Anne, together with an assistant, rode the ladies’ carriage of the public train.
She said the reaction of her fellow passengers were quite priceless.
“No’ng una, nakatingin lang sila and then no’ng may isa nang nagpa-picture, ayan na, sunud-sunod sila.
“But you know what, at 10:30, 11 in the morning, halos wala nang tao.
"It’s medyo mas maluwag ’tas ‘pag lagpas ng Cubao [station], bumababa na silang lahat, so wala nang masyadong tao up to Quezon Avenue.”
Knowing the benefits of riding the MRT first hand, Anne said she wouldn’t mind taking public transport to work over and over again.
“I really think, you know, it’s an easy way to travel. It’s fast and, you know, reasonable pa ‘yong price.
"So I think it’s an easy way to travel [especially] if you’re thinking about traffic, kailangan mong makapunta kaagad sa ibang lugar…”
Would she be open to becoming an ambassador for local public transport in case the government offers her to become one?
“Why not? I think it’s so much fun!
"You know, even running up, going up, umakyat kasi ako Boni [station] na kasi do’n na rin iyong traffic, nakatingin lang sa ‘kin iyong mga tao, parang hindi sila makapaniwala.
“As in ‘eto talaga iyong face nila [nakatulala] ‘yong [nakasunod ang mata] habang waiting lang ako.
"’Tapos [nagbubulungan sila na] ‘Si Anne Curtis ba ‘yon? Si Anne Curtis nga! Pa-picture, pa-picture.’
“And then, you know, it was so much fun and then, you know, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it.
"Why not, choc-nut?”
UPDATE ON KAILANGAN KO’Y IKAW. Speaking of her upcoming show Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw, Anne said that they are continuously in the process of producing the first few episodes for the series.
“We’re currently consistently taping every other day during the week.
"So you know, we’re getting into our characters already and super duper excited to be working with Kris Aquino and Robin Padilla.”
The show is slated to be aired later this year.
