“I am very happy to represent Reebok and YSA. They are both reputable brands and have great products and services,” sabi ni Shawn nang makausap siya ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
BASKETBALL OVER SHOWBIZ.
“Right now I just want to win championships [in PBA]. But if there is a good project that suits me and I am passionate about it, I would think it over.”
“Basketball will always come first. But I’ll still do my best when it comes to my showbiz career if given the chance.”
Nagkaroon daw siya ng “taste of showbiz” nang maging presenter siya sa nakaraang PMPC (Philippine Movie Press Club) Star Awards for Movies. Kumusta naman ang naging experience niya?
“Presenting at the PMPC star Awards was an amazing experience. I had a lot of fun, I was honored to be asked to present especially with the extravagant list of other artistas at the event.”
READY FOR INTRIGUES.
“Actually, I am taking the showbiz intrigue as a compliment. I never imagined that I would be given this opportunity to be talked about.”
“Chris has represented the Philippines extremely well. His work with community service and stint with the national team Gilas has been positive for the Philippines, and has given fellow athletes a good image. So, to be compared to him is okay with me.”
“Vic Sotto. I watched his movies and he is really good.”
Given the chance, anong tipo ng proyekto ang gusto niyang gawin—comedy, drama, action or sports-related?
“My first choice would be a sports-related film, but I would say action is a close second.”
Sino naman ang gusto niyang makasama?
“I would like to work with Bossing [Vic]. He does comedy and action effortlessly and he has been in the industry for so long.”
CRUSH ON GWEN.
“Gwen is one of the first friends I made here in the Philippines.”
Paano niya nakilala si Gwen?
“We have common friends.”
“Aside from her natural beauty, Gwen has a caring heart and is family-oriented."
Natawa muna si Shawn bago sumagot, “Anything is possible, but Gwen and I are just friends.”
Dito ay naging Heartland Conference Player of the Year siya noong 2007.
“I decided to pursue sports because you can’t play at a high level forever. The aging process is undefeated.
"Basketball has always been my passion in my life, I don’t know if it is because I am Filipino, but I’ve loved the game since I was a baby.”
“I would always be into something sports-related...business wise.”
THE MVP GOAL.
“My Filipino sports idols are Robert Jaworski and Ricardo Brown. As most of the Philippines can attest to, Robert Jaworski is really special.
"He dominated and controlled every aspect of the game. His energy and physical play was entertaining for the fans.
“Ricardo Brown is my other idol because of what he did for the Filipino-Americans. Not only was he an amazing player, but his positive attitude, work ethics, and interactions with the fans has allowed players such as myself to be welcomed into the Philippines with open arms."
How does it feel to once be a part of the team Talk N Text that won the PBA Philippine Cup?
“I am extremely grateful I had the opportunity to be a part of TNT, the Philippine Cup championship team.
"The chemistry and positive environment that the team had was great. Growing up, you dream of winning championships and to experience that early in my career is special.
"But I’m happy now with my present team, Barako Bull.”
“As a personal goal, earning the MVP title is at the top of the list and would be a major achievement in my career. It would be a nice reflection on the hours and hours I spend in the gym and studying the game of basketball.
"However, more important than an MVP award is winning championships and that is what I prioritize now.”
Bukod sa basketball at posibleng showbiz career, ano pa ang gusto niyang gawin?
“As of late, I am looking to start some charity organizations to help the youth and the less fortunate.
"My focus will be mainly of the provincial areas that do not have the means and access to education and basketball. If we teach the youth for a day we can inspire or prepare them for a lifetime.”
