“Binatilyo ka na!”
Renz Valerio smiled shyly on hearing that remark from the columnists and reporters who attended the press launch of My Chubby World’s season 2 at Papa John’s restaurant on Tomas Morato Avenue, earlier today, May 2, 2012.
Aside from getting taller, his voice now sounds deeper.
And yes, he’s ready to have a love team.
Does he have a screen partner in mind?
Sounding so earnest, “maganda” doesn’t seem to figure in the 13-year-old actor’s criteria for his future “reel” love.
Unlike most kids his age, Renz’s personality is devoid of any kapilyuhan.
He resumed, “Pag naka-work ko po sila, professional silang lahat kaya okay lang po kahit sino’ng makatrabaho ko.”
THE ROAD TO CHALLENGING ROLES. After playing the title role Noel in 2006, he became famous for playing the younger Dingdong Dantes in Aquano and the younger Richard Gutierrez in Sugo.
In his most recent project, he played the younger Alden Richards/ TJ Trinidad in The Road, where his role is by far “the most challenging.”
“Talagang total blessing po talaga for me.”
From being a nice and charming boy in real life, he was transformed into a shadowy character who murdered his playmate in Yam Laranas’s film. How did he prepare for that shift?
Given the chance, he wishes to try “older”characters in the near future, specifically, for tweens and grown-ups.
Is he attending the premiere of the international screening?
THE RETURN OF MY CHUBBY WORLD. For now, he wants to be good at hosting.
While waiting for that breakthrough project, “Pagbubutihan ko po itong pagho-host sa season 2 ng show…”
Does he prefer hosting over acting?
“So, first ko po itong Chubby na mag-host…”
One thing he’s glad about the show, its season 2 entails big adventures involving grade school students, who will go through “a series of physical, mental, and experiential challenges.”
And lastly, he underlined, “Masaya po ‘to.”
