CocoMartin says working on the movie Born to Love You has allowed him to become closer to singer-turned-actress Angeline Quinto.
How would he describe his relationship with Angeline off cam?
“Masaya kasi ganyan siya kakulit. Talagang napapatawa niya ako,” said Coco during the movie’s press conference held earlier today, May 16, at the Dolphy Theater, ELJ Building in Quezon City.
What qualities does he like about Angeline?
“Sobrang napakapagmahal niya sa pamilya niya.
"Mahilig siyang magsimba. Pareho kami mahilig magsimba sa Quiapo.
"Marunong sa buhay... marami siyang good qualities bilang babae,” he admitted.
Coco, who was honored with an Aktor ng Dekada award during the 34thGawad Urian, stars in this light-romantic movie that will be screened in cinemas starting May 30.
“Habang nagda-dubbing ako, sobra akong na-proud kasi almost eight months namin ginawa ang pelikula.
"Nasulit lahat ng pagod, puyat, at hirap ng location,” said the actor who is cast as a photographer.
BEACH SCENES. In this movie directed by Jerome Pobocan, Angeline plays a tourist guide looking for her father.
Some of their scenes were shot in Subic and Batangas.
Did Angeline feel awkward while shooting the beach scenes for the movie?
The singer said, “Hindi naman po.
What is Coco’s reaction when he saw his leading lady during their beach scenes?
“Binibiro nga namin siya, ’Aabangan namin ang pagtu-two piece mo.’
“Every day, may nakikita kaming improvement.
In response, Angeline wanted to give Coco the bouquet of flowers that she was holding as a gift in exchange for his compliment.
KISSING SCENES. How many kissing scenes did they do and how was it like shooting them?
Angeline quipped, “Gusto n’yo ba ngayon [mag-kissing scene]?
Coco pointed out, “Medyo marami-rami.
The Walang Hanggan actor says that he maintained his professionalism while doing the kissing scenes with Angeline.
How does he feel about being the first kiss of Angeline?
“Masaya, dahil kahit papa’no, ako yung balang-araw kung ano man mararating ni Angeline, ako yung kauna-unahang artista or actor na nakatrabaho po niya.”
Angeline admitted that she has had two boyfriends in the past: one during her elementary days and other during high school.
She feels lucky that her first kiss—in real life and onscreen—is with her crush, Coco.
"Listerine ang amoy ng halik ni Coco,” she said with a giggle.
“Mabango ang hinihinga. Yummy!"
IMPROVED ACTING. Coco observed that Angeline’s acting ability has improved a lot since they started working on this movie.
He even compared Angeline to a robot when she was still studying how to act in front of a camera.
“Para siyang robot that time. Ni wala siyang alam sa pag-arte.”
Through the help of Malu de Guzman and Pen Medina, Angeline’s acting skills were honed.
“Almost everyday nagkakaroon ng development sa pag-arte niya,” said Coco.
How did he help Angeline while filming this movie?
Masakit-sobra!” he stressed.
ON CINEMALAYA ENTRY STA. NIÑA. Aside from starring in the romantic movie Born to Love You, Coco is working on the Cinemalaya entry Sta. Niña.
He will be joined by Angel Aquino, Anita Linda, Irma Adlawan, and Leo Martinez in this film directed by Manny Palo.
The ABS-CBN actor says about this indie film: “Tungkol ito sa pagmimilagro ng isang bata.”
Coco portrays the husband of Alessandra de Rossi in this movie. Their two-year-old daughter died and her body was covered by lahar in Bacolor, Pampanga. When her body is recovered ten years later, they find out that her body has not decomposed, leading many to believe that her body is miraculous.
How does he feel about going back to his roots?
“Masaya kasi medyo matagal akong hindi nakagawa ng indie then ngayon nakabalik ako,” he said with a smile.
Coco is slated to shoot a crucifixion scene in Pampanga for the Cinemalaya entry Sta. Niña. This film is one of the ten films competing in the New Breed category of the 8th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival that will take place in July 2012.
