TV5 princess Eula Caballero celebrated her 17thbirthday with some members of the press last Saturday, May 26, at Cravings restaurant on Tomas Morato, Quezon City.
The young actress’ actual birthday was May 23, but she decided to do a weekend celebration on TV5’s showbiz talk show Paparazzi Showbiz Exposed in the morning and with the entertainment press in the afternoon.
STARS. Eula has landed one big project after another in the Kapatid network after winning the reality talent search Star Factor two years ago.
Named as one of TV5’s princesses, she has worked with Superstar Nora Aunor in Sa Ngalan ng Ina and other big stars in The Sisters.
Eula also played a memorable role in the mini-serye Nandito Ako, alongside American Idol’s David Archuleta and Jasmine Curtis-Smith, which wrapped up last March.
This is aside from her starring role in last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival entry Yesterday Today Tomorrow, in which she had the chance to work with some of the biggest names in the industry—Maricel Soriano, Gabby Concepcion, Dennis Trillo, Lovi Poe, and Jericho Rosales.
She has worked with the Superstar and the Diamond Star, which other “star” would she like to work with?
“Megastar!” was Eula’s outright response, referring to Sharon Cuneta. “Siya, sana.”
With Sharon now on the Kapatid network, it will need only the right project to make this happen.
How about the Star For All Seasons, Vilma Santos?
“Sana. Kung posible. Sana, sana.
"Kung hindi man possible sa TV5, baka sa movie, someday,” Eula said.
She explains that it’s more than just the bragging rights of having worked with these big names, “Kasi ’pag nakakatrabaho mo yung mga ganung tao, marami ka ding natututunan.
“Kasi, sila mismo parang nagse-share.
DIREK MAC. In an interview with Direk Mac Alejandre, TV5’s new talent center head, who was also Eula’s director in Nandito Ako, he told PEP that he sees so much potential in the 17-year-old actress.
Eula was flattered when we told her about this.
Ayun.
"’Tsaka si Direk kasi yung nag-direct nung Nandito Ako."
Eula is also very happy with her projects in TV5, “And then, parang malalaki din yung binibigay ng TV5 sa ’kin kasi nag-Sa Ngalan ng Ina ‘ko, tapos yung The Sisters, hindi rin naman maliliit na mga projects yun.
“Pero, kumbaga, ito yung biggest, so far [Nandito Ako]. ’Tapos si Direk yung nakatrabaho ko. And thankful ako kasi inaalagaan nya talaga lahat.
Her relationship with Direk Mac even goes beyond professional as she considers the director to be someone she can confide to.
“Nakaka-touch…
“And I’m happy na ’andito siya sa TV5,” Eula said.
DREAM LEADING MEN. When we asked which actors she wanted to work with, Eula was hesitant at first, saying, most of them are older.
But we pointed out how age gap is no longer a big deal in the industry these days and she agreed.
She named some Kapamilya actors.
“Tapos, si Edgar, si Edgar Allan [Guzman], kasi magaling din,” Eula said she had worked with him before but as his sister.
In terms of those within her age bracket, Eula expressed her excitement on working with former Pinoy Big Brother teen housemate Ivan Dorschner for an upcoming movie.
Eula takes a welcome break from drama as the movie to be directed by Adolf Alix Jr. is under the romantic-comedy (rom-com) genre.
“Rom-com. Gusto ko siya ma-try, that’s why excited din ako sa movie na ‘to, kasi iba yung atake dito,” she said.
“So, parang…para matuto din ako.
"’Tapos kailangan kong mag-lighten up and mag-loosen up ng konti kasi parang sunud-sunod yung drama ko din, ganyan.
Kasi magagamit ko din in the future.”
Eula adds, she also dreams of doing an action series or film.
"Parang mala-Utol ni Jas,” she said, referring to Jasmine Curtis-Smith’s action-serye with JC de Vera, Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum.
