Celebrities speak up about Cybercrime Prevention Law

“Even if I know that as a celebrity I’d probably even benefit from the act but at the end of the day i’m still a citizen of this country & we should all have equal rights. I just feel its so one sided. I hope they consider REVISING the crybercrime act,” says Anne Curtis (left) about the Cybercrime Prevention Law, which will be enforced today, October 3.

FREE SPEECH COMES WITH RESPONSIBILITY.

“I am for Cybercrime Law,” sabi ng singer-actress sa kanyang personal Twitter account kagabi, October 2.

Dagdag pa niya, “I’m all for the punishment of cybercrime. Some people have just gone too far.”

Ayon kay Sharon, wala naman dapat ikatakot ang mga tao sa Cybercrime Prevention Law “as long as you take responsibility for what you say, that is respectable.”

Pag may free speech dapat may responsibility.

“RULES AND REGULATIONS.”

“It’s good to have parameters, it’s good to have rules and regulations.

“Kasi kung wala, ganyan, e. Yun bang people think it’s okay na to just say things without even thinking…

“I mean, I know that some people would say na, ‘A, they’re just words, what’s the worst that it can do for you?’

CYBERBULLIES SHOULD BE IDENTIFIED.

IT MIGHT BE ABUSED.

Aniya: “I do believe we need a cybercrime law to stop identity theft, hacking, kids exposure to nasty porno sites that can harm them, etc.

“I understand those things are addressed.

“But this one went over the top with the libel provisions.

“It also gives a lot of arbitrary power to the DOJ head.

“That may seem Ok if we have liberal democrat as DOJ chief who alone can close internet sites..

“But what if we had someone who is intolerant of criticism? It WILL be abused.

"That’s why this should go back to the drawing board.”

NEEDS REVISION.

“Being someone thats active in the Social Media world I couldn’t help but feel sad & scared while reading the Cybercrime Act.

“Whatever happened to Freedom of speech? Having an opinion? Expressing oneself? These are our own accounts. Our property. Our lives.

“And now if we share our opinions we can get into trouble with the law? Put behind bars? Fined a ridiculous amount even?

“The cybercrime act does have some responsible points that should be included & implemented BUT

“BUT going to extent of having a law that takes away a freedom we should all rightfully have just seems wrong to me.”

“Even if I know that as a celebrity I’d probably even benefit from the act but at the end of the day i’m still a citizen of this country

“& we should all have equal rights. I just feel its so one sided. I hope they consider REVISING the crybercrime act.

“We want peace in our country, amongst our people & future generations.”

Para sa kanya, “This is not just about me as a celeb myself. But this is about every Filipino with the voice. YOU CAN’T SILENCE A NATION. #NoToCyberCrimeLaw

“It’s just plain stupid to be put in jail just because it’s against the law to express yourself. #NoToCyberCrimeLaw
