Showbiz hunks dish out “bad” habits they want to kick in 2013

“It’s a matter of perspective. So, kung maganda yung tingin mo sa mga nangyayari sa paligid mo, everything will be positive,” tells Kapamilya actor Diether Ocampo (left) who vows to worry less when 2013 kicks in. Meanwhile, what do handsome bachelors Ivan Dorschner (center) and Ahron Villena (right) want to change about themselves in the coming year?

In 2012, showbiz’s debonair male personalities Diether Ocampo, Ivan Dorschner, and Ahron Villena came to know themselves more.

In separate interviews during different pre-Christmas events, (Philippine Entertainment Portal) randomly asked how the year turned out for Diether, Ivan, and Ahron.

Known for their hunk image and robust bods, the three opened up about traits they want to change, their lovelife, and how they see themselves changing for the better in 2013.

DIETHER OCAMPO. ABS-CBN actor Diether initially remarked that “there’ll be a lot” of negative traits that he means to change. He plans to focus on doing away with “worrying before things happen.”

Asked if he is a natural worrier, the former matinee idol said, “I think it’s because of past experiences— something I learn from also.

“But once in a while, because of the traumatic experience, parang even before something similar happens, you worry a lot. And that’s one thing I feel na dapat kong baguhin.”

Diether believes “it’s a matter of perspective.”

The 38-year-old actor added, “So, kung maganda yung tingin mo sa mga nangyayari sa paligid mo, everything will be positive.”

Diether, who was part of the ensemble cast of the recent Star Cinema romantic comedy 24/7 In Love, said that he welcomes both good and bad experiences nonetheless.

“They’re all very important dahil [they’re all] different [experiences]. You have to acknowledge everything kasi it’s all part of growing. For me it’s a very important process.”

He affirmed, “I’m very optimistic. It’s just that sometimes, you know, when you’re tired, you encounter a lot of experience where feeling mo hindi mo na kaya.

“But it’s a good thing that you have a lot of people to make you feel that you’re well-loved.”

In 2013, Diether will star in the upcoming Kapamilya soap Apoy sa Dagat with his Star Magic co-talents, Piolo Pascual and Angelica Panganiban.

IVAN DORSCHNER. Former Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition housemate Ivan Dorschner had an interesting 2012.

Early this year, the German/Irish-Filipino model/actor became the envy of Pinoys when he got a kiss from international pop artist Katy Perry. The Teenage Dream singer held a concert in Manila last January and 22-year-old Ivan was in the audience.

When Katy asked for a male volunteer to take off his shirt and come up on stage to claim a kiss from her, Ivan dared himself to go for it. And fortunately it paid off! “Sobrang suwerte ko” was how Ivan described the experience.

Some men might go on to say that getting a peck on the cheek by the lovely Katy Perry is enough to make their year. Not for Ivan though, even if he found that moment at the concert remarkable.

Secret Admirer. He told PEP that being able to tell his “special someone” how he truly feels is what would complete his year.

This, Ivan revealed upon being asked what crazy thing he would do today if the world ends tomorrow. The question was relevant in the face of the infamous Mayan prediction that life on earth would end on December 12, 2012.

“Well, I can’t take off my shirt kasi ginawa ko na yun,” Ivan said, amused by the question.

He continued, “Meron akong isang babae na I’ve never really expressed everything yet.”

Is she in showbiz?

Let’s not say anything,” Ivan turned serious.

Musing to himself, he said, “Yeah, I’d probably tell her.”

Prodded to state what exactly he would tell the “special girl,” Ivan dodged the question. He said they have been friends for a long time and that, as far as he knows, the girl is single.

Asked what’s holding him back, Ivan only replied, “Exactly, right?”

Being Shy and Sometimes Sleepless. Ivan shared that he has a lot of “bad” habits to break, but he allowed himself to mention only one.

“Siguro yung sa pag-hesitate minsan. Minsan kasi may gusto akong gawin na isang bagay pero feeling ko mawi-weirdo-han yung mga tao sa gagawin ko sana.

“Minsan ginagawa ko pa rin and it’s fun, it’s okay. Pero siyempre, nandun din yung hesitation. So, sana wala nang hesitation.”

“Kumbaga meron akong gustong gawin na isang bagay na parang medyo goofy siya na ma-a-out of place ako pag hindi ko siya ginawang tama.”

Does he mean to say that he has always been shy?

Ivan admitted, “Oo.”

Another habit he aims to get rid of is staying up late.

“I want to get better sleep.”

Ivan pointed out, “I’ve been sleeping okay naman. Kaya lang nagkasakit ako ng seven weeks na at hindi pa ako gumagaling.

“Gumagaling naman ako. It’s just that ang bagal niya, ang bagal ng proseso. So magpapa-check pa ako or I have to sleep more.”

The culprit is his watching late night television shows, Ivan said.

“I get bored at home. So I turn on the TV, I look for a good show. I swear, yung Minute to Win It parang I’ve watched that… I’ve seen every episode twice!” he exclaimed.

Memorable Surprise. When asked what the most unforgettable gift he gave in his whole life is, Ivan narrated how he once flew to Los Angeles, California, where he grew up, and surprised his whole family.

“Sinorpresa ko buong family ko. Sinabi ko sa kanila na hindi ako makakapunta ng LA for Christmas [and that] I was here.

“I was talking to them on the phone and they were saying, ‘We wish you were here!’ And I was like, ‘Yeah! I wish I was there…’”

Ivan recalled how he shocked every member of his family when he showed up in their home at that moment.

“Wala akong dalang damit, puro gifts lang nila!”

He added, “Ginawa ko na ’yan two times, I think. So hindi na puwede. Hindi na sila magugulat. Sasabihin nila, ‘Yan na naman!’”

Is there anything he wants to receive this Christmas? Ivan mentioned two things.

“I want a job in LA. I have a job here naman pero gusto ko ng job na mas malapit sa family ko.

“Or I would like a poster. Alam mo yung original movie poster?— of Oceans Eleven.”

AHRON VILLENA. His face is familiar for playing supporting roles in the Star Cinema films One More Chance (2008), For The First Time (2008) and Way Back Home (2011).

The 25-year-old freelance actor starred as part of the main cast of the TV5 soap Felina: Prinsesa ng mga Pusa from January to May, and was recently added to the cast of the “ecoserye” Enchanted Garden.

Ahron will also appear in two upcoming movies: Regal Films’s The Bride and The Lover, and the remake of action film Ben Tambling, which was supposed to be a part of the Metro Manila Film Festival this year.

For these reasons Ahron says he’s had a blessed year. Among his other accomplishments this year is helping his folks renovate their home in Batangas.

Singlehood, For Now. During the interview, Ahron mentioned that right now his priorities are work and his family. His lovelife, for the meantime, takes a back seat.

“Ako naman, hindi ko minamadali yung mga bagay-bagay, e.”

He stated, “Single ako and very happy naman kahit papaano.”

It isn’t that Ahron is unprepared should the “right girl” come along.

“Kumbaga, ano, minsan nakikipag-date [pag] may pinapakilala. Pero yun lang, date lang isang beses, tapos movie, ganun lang.

“Tapos alam mo yung … kasi parang feeling ko hindi siya magwu-work out?”

Ahron said that this year, he had a lot of growing up to do in the love department: “Kasi dala na ako, e. Pag nagmahal ako, iba e. Naks, yabang, e! Kasi ako yung sinasaktan, e.”

While he laughed at himself for saying those last lines, Ahron’s expression told of a recent “heartbreak.”

While the actor did not divulge any name, he said that early this year, he thought he and an actress from the Kapuso network would end up together.

Ahron cautiously told the details, “Ang huli ko ’atang date is mga April to May. May dinate [date] ako for one month and one week. Yun oh, dire-diretso.

“’Wag na lang natin siya pangalanan dahil sinaktan niya ako bigla. Di naman sinaktan pero bigla na lang siyang nawala na parang bula.”

Asked why things did not work out, Ahron said he is clueless until now.

Implying that he’s over the disappointment, he said, “Ako naman, hindi ko minamadali yung mga bagay-bagay. Pag may dumating, dumating.”

Who Wins His Heart? Ahron admitted that he’s a sucker for sweet girls— or “malambing” in Filipino.

“Parang ano kasi e, sobrang weakness ko yung pagiging… pag sweet yung babae sa akin.”

His ideal girl, the actor said, is one who is family-oriented: “Pag ano siya, malapit sa family niya.”

He went on to say, “Hindi naman ako mapili talaga, e. Minsan… pag na-feel mo talaga sa kanya na parang may something, ‘Ito na siguro.’”

At the moment, Ahron said that he is open to dating non-showbiz girls.

Over-sensitive Ahron. Asked what “bad” quality he aims to change come 2013, Ahron said he will try to be less sensitive.

“Yung pagiging sensitive ko masyado. Sensitive ako,” said the actor.

“Konting bagay lang madali ako magtampo. Kunwari, may girlfriend ako before, ako pa yung madaling magtampo.

“Usually yung babae yung ano… [pero] ako yung tatahimik.

“Parang napaka-transparent ko sa tao na parang minsan, hindi mo naman kailangan maging sensitive, nagiging sensitive ako. Sobra! Gusto ako yung aamuhin.”

Bent on fulfilling his New Year’s resolution, he said, “Siguro, siguro, bawasan ko kaya yun kahit papano? Siyempre [kung] magkaka-girlfriend ako, ayoko naman na parang ako yung sinusuyo or something.”

Lola’s Boy. When asked about the most memorable gift he gave someone on Christmas day, Ahron mentioned that he never gave any of his girlfriends a gift for the holidays.

He realized, “Parang hindi ’ata ako umaabot pag Christmas. Nagkakataong nagbre-break!”

The actor remembered, however, “Sa lola ko ako nagbigay, e. Parang necklace ’ata binigay ko e. Necklace or bracelet.

“Well, yung lola ko, siya kasi yung nag-alaga sa akin. Lola’s boy ako. Well, lola and lolo’s boy ako.”
