Personalities answer for their controversial comments in 2012

Lea Salonga (left) and Georgina Wilson (right) are two celebrities who openly express their opinion, whether people accept it or not.

’Ika nga, "It comes with the territory."

Pero giit niya, “Last I checked, it’s actually a right of every person in this country to express an opinion, good or bad. We live in a democracy and I’m grateful.

"And that is all I’m going to say. Nothing incendiary will be coming from me. No need for it.

"There are insults being hurled in our direction, but eh. That’s life. An opinion is subjective. Walang mali, walang tama.

"A criticism is an opinion. I’ve been called a lot of things in my life, no biggie. Same for other artists. That’s life.

"No one is immune from criticisms, not even our President. Kung Pangulo nga, binabatikos araw-araw, at kinakaya niyang tiisin, tayo pa kaya?

"Ang sa akin, okey lang ang pagbabatikos. Walang masama doon.

Wika niya nang makapanayam siya ng PEP, “I’m not gonna get off Twitter just because of this.

"I mean, I have a lot of opinions about a lot of other issues. I’m a strong advocate of the RH [Reproductive Health] Bill.

"And if I have opinions about it, being very objective, I will post something. I will have a debate with someone who’s anti. ’Okay, this is where I’m coming from and this where you’re coming from.’

"We can agree to disagree but we’ll keep the arguments very rational and civil. Then, it’s like, ’Oh, I kind of like this discourse on this avenue.’

"I’m always trying to be cautious when I tweet because I don’t really want to step on anyone’s toes. That really was not my intention. And there’s no conspiracy here or anything, you know.

"We, as human beings, just have the need to say something. It’s not about the person, it’s not about anybody. It’s just that we saw that something wasn’t right...that’s it.”

ARNOLD CLAVIO.

Parang God’s gift to women.

Madaling-araw ng Marso 14 ay sinabi ni Angel Locsin, “I think arnold clavio’s a good person. But this time, sobrang foul lang. That’s his opinion. This is mine.

MIRIAM QUIAMBAO.

Aniya, “In my humble opinion, transgenders should not be allowed to join the MissU because it’s only for REAL women.”

“We should all make a stand. Just because it’s popular, it doesn’t mean that it’s right.

“@realDonaldTrump in my humble opinion, the decision to include transgenders in the @MissUniverse pageant sends the wrong message.

“This may set a precedent that one day most participants in @MissUniverse are transgenders. #essenceofawoman? #majormistake @realDonaldTrump”

Diin pa ni Miriam, “Whatever happened to the ‘essence of a woman?’”

“Homosexuality is not a sin but it is a lie from the devil. Do not be deceived. God loves gays and wants them to know the truth.”

“LGBT or straight, man or woman, young or old, we all deserve love, respect and acceptance. We all need a savior on Jesus Christ. God loves u.”

“No offense to the LGBT but the Truth is the Truth that comes from God. Take it or leave it. We will all face the judgement seat of God.”

“Mahal ko ang LGBT. That’s why I am sharing with you the truth. If you are not ready for it, please don’t shoot me. I am just a messenger.”

Aniya, “I’m sorry LGBT. Perhaps I was too harsh with the words I used. Will do my best to be more sensitive. #respect #nobodysperfect #grace

“why is PNOY taking time out of his "busy" schedule to meet with Paris Hilton tomorrow. So shameful that he doesn’t have better things to do.”

Ani Georgina, “I just really felt strongly about the issue so I felt that I had to say something.

“It’s not that I’m pro- or anti-Paris, I’m also not pro o anti our President...

“You know, I have an opinion and I respect everybody’s opinion— everybody that would say negative and positive things.

“There are a lot agreeing and a lot disagreeing, and I think they took it in a way that I’m insulting Paris or the President, but it really wasn’t about that.

“It’s about voicing out my opinion and it’s just because I’m concerned.

“I respect everybody’s opinion and I also hope that they respect mine and it’s more of that I’m critical of what our country should and shouldn’t do.

“It’s not a personal thing.

“It has nothing to do with me not liking Paris or not. I mean, I’m happy that she loves the Philippines and I think she’s very supportive with Manny Pacquiao and all of that.

“But I also don’t think that it’s necessary for the President to meet her because she’s here on a commercial endeavor.

“If she’s here for, you know, to help with humanitarian causes and all of that stuff, then sure, go meet with her. But that’s just my opinion.”

If anything, it made me more sure that I should voice opinions when I feel it’s necessary and that people on Twitter should let people voice opinions.

“I want my generation to be critical of the government, of social issues. I want people to care.

“And if they don’t use Twitter as a platform to voice their opinions then what is Twitter for?”
