Jasmine Curtis Smith on being courted by Sam Concepcion: “Ha?

Sabi niya, I think it will take long for me to fully step out of her shadow. And that’s fine kasi, at the same time, it helps me grow, it helps my name grow, and it helps my image grow—for the fans and the public and the audience, as well. So, it’s helpful, as well.”

“You know, hopefully by the time na I do, I hope I’m still fresh, I’m still flawless, I’m still young, di ba?

“I know it won’t happen in a year. But as much as possible, that would still be my goal.

“Of course, hindi lang sa endorsements but also with projects.

“Gusto ko rin to gain all the knowledge that she has within the industry.”

“Yes, yes. You can never avoid it, it is inevitable. Anywhere, sa Twitter, sa Instagram, sa Facebook.

“It’s not anything that I complain about because even before pa naman ako mag-join sa showbiz, within the family pa lang, ganun na talaga.

“And of course, that’s the same with any other family, whether or not you’re in showbiz, maku-compare ka naman sa friends mo, sa family mo o sa ate mo, ganun.

“So, it’s okay.”

May pressure ba sa kanya to get out sa shadow ng kapatid niya?

“Well, I think as a younger sister, also to anyone who’s related to someone who has established herself way ahead of me, I think there will always be that kind of pressure.

“But for myself, I don’t want to get affected with that pressure.

“Of course, I’m gonna do my own thing. And people might think na, ‘Ay, ginagawa niya lang iyan para maiba sa kapatid niya.’

“Of course, I wanna be different from my sister and I am different from her.

“We have our similarities as well, sa looks, sa kilos, and all that.

"And I think it will take long for me to fully step out of her shadow.

“And that’s fine kasi, at the same time, it helps me grow, it helps my name grow, and it helps my image grow—for the fans and the public and the audience, as well.

“So, it’s helpful, as well.”

Sabi ni Jasmine, “Maybe in the future.

“But as of now kasi, eighteen pa lang po ako, I don’t think emotionally and physically… I don’t think I’m ready yet.

“And of course, I have to learn the different types of acting in this industry to perform those roles if ever the opportunity comes along.”

But I can never take it personally, because this is for work.

“At the same time, we very much love our endorsements.

“I’m not saying na, ‘Ay, mas magaling ako, ganito-ganyan.’ No, and she’s not saying either.

“So, we’re very much just… ‘O congratulations, you have a new endorsement.’

“She’s so supportive of me with all the endorsements I have this early on my career.”

TV SHOW NAMED AFTER HER.

Sabi ni Jasmine, “I got the news before the trade launch when we were rehearsing.

“And I thought baka ano lang ito… kasi we haven’t formally met yet about the show.

“When I heard it, ‘Ah, that’s so cool. That’s a good idea.’

“And then on the actual trade launch night, nakita ko na siya as one of the shows listed on the screen. ‘Uy, totoo pala ito! Akala ko joke lang.’

“So, I’m very, very excited to work on it.

“At the same time, I’m also nervous kasi siyempre I have to do really well and I have to really live up to the expectation of the network.

“So, you know, if have to attend workshops, I’ll do everything to fulfill the role that they’ll give me.

“Basta yun, I’m so excited. That’s just one of the things that I’ll do this year.

Thank you, Lord!”

TO PURSUE COLLEGE.

Kuwento niya, “I actually enrolled in Ateneo over here. I put down Management as my preference.

“However, I did get waitlisted, so I’m organizing all my letter of appeal, my recommendation letter.

“At the same time, I also got an offer… my first preference for a course in Melbourne, Australia as an off-campus student sa Deakin University.

“So, with that my decision is I’m gonna reserve my spot in Australia for a year and then wait for Ateneo.

‘Hopefully, makapasa ako. If ever not, I’m going to apply to La Salle for their special examination in April.

“If I pass, I will be able to start na rin this school year.

“So, everything really… I have a back-up just in case.

“And if I still don’t get into La Salle, I still have my placement in Australia to take up next year.”

“Yes, but then again, at least it’s faster.

“And since I love studying naman, I think I can handle the pressure.

“Considering the fact that I was able to handle fly-in, fly-out all the time with the exams, the tests, kakayanin ko naman.”

“Yes, very supportive naman sila with my schooling. And also the condition of moving here.

“Not because I’m moving here that doesn’t mean that I’m going to give up my studies.

“I’m still very much going to fulfill my goal of finishing college and having that degree.”

SAM CONCEPCION.

Sagot ni Jasmine, “Well, you know what, we all have our friends and our families, and our school, everything that keeps us busy.

“Ate is so lucky to have Erwan and I really, really love him.

“You know, he’s my peg na one day if ever, di ba?”

And we hang out, yeah.

“I’m not gonna say na we don’t, na I’m gonna lie pa na hindi kami nagha-hang out. We’re friends.”

Pero nanliligaw ba si Sam sa kanya?

“Ha?
