Director Peque Gallaga on coming back to the mainstream: “I need to go with the flow. I’m not in the position to fight it kasi ako ang matatalo.”

Saad niya, “When you’re retired kasi, you have no other means of making money. So you just depend on what you’ve saved for the many years you’ve worked.”

Kuwento niya, “I made a slight comeback with an indie film titled Pinoy Blonde [starring Jeffrey Quizon and Iza Calzado] in 2005.

“That was like the start of the indie film genre.

“Pero hindi ko na nasundan iyon agad because I just wanted to do behind-the-scene work na lang.

“Then four years later, I did Agaton & Mindy [starring Chase Vega and Louise delos Reyes]—it’s from a script written by Lore Reyes.

“Nagustuhan ko because it’s like a teen love story version of our film before na Baby Love.

“Now, a lot of things have changed since I made a big studio film.

“So I need to go with the flow.

“I’m not in the position to fight it kasi ako ang matatalo. Old school ako, e—I should be the one adjusting now.

“But I am happy that we live in a world that making a comeback is quite a big deal.

“And I am happy for getting this rare opportunity,” nakangiting sabi ni Direk Peque.

OBLIGATIONS.

Saad niya, “When you’re retired kasi, you have no other means of making money.

“So you just depend on what you’ve saved for the many years you’ve worked.

Kuwento niya, “Mother Lily knew what I was going through, so she offered me to do a movie.

“I said ‘yes’ kaagad kay Mother. I owe her a lot because most the films I directed, I did for Regal Films.

“Yun nga lang, I told Mother Lily that I don’t want to do a horror film.

“Mother said that she has a script ready written by Aloy Adlawan.

“It’s for Richard Gutierrez. So I read it and I fell in love with it.

“So, that’s how the film Seduction was born.

“It was born out of Mother Lily’s concern for me!” tawa pa ulit ni Direk Peque.
